a superhero Christmas

chapter 9

its Christmas eve night and Henrys ankle still isn't Getting better. which is really bad, he can't fight crime or save swellview from danger. if he doesn't get better by Christmas, I can't allow him to go on the mission. I know henry to, he won't stop bugging me about it untill I let him go. I won't give in this time. he's going to get hurt, I just know it. that will not happen, I will make sure of it. his family is away for Christmas which I think is kinda messed up, Christmas is a family time. anyway, Henry is chilling here with me In the mancave. I told him to rest his foot and to not get up. he obeyed me so far, but he really looks annoyed and unhappy about it.  he is staying quiet two. he's sitting on the couch with his foot on the table with a pillow underneath it. his arms are crossed looking down. I don't want him to spend Christmas depressed. I decided to try to talk to him.

"hey, do you need anything?" I asked nicely.
"no..." he responded right after I asked, not making eye contact. I decided to just let him be. he turned on the t.v and was flipping through channels, "the miracle on 34th street" was on. I used to watch this movie every year with my dad. Henry kept it on for a while and watched it. he reminded me how I was when I was his age. I went behind in my sprocket, just to give Henry a little space, I get he's upset right now, so I decided not to push it.

when it was about 3 in the morning, I was still up, I was pretty nervous about Christmas day. I went out to the main room in the man cave. I noticed the t.v was still on and Henry was fast asleep. I took the remote and turned off the t.v.

I look at henry for a while. he really does remind me alot of myself when I was younger. I got an alert on the computers this late at night. I turned it off almost immediately so it wouldn't wake henry. I transformed into captain man and head up the tubes without imforming Henry on any of it.

I woke up the next morning on the couch in the mancave. I forgot about my ankle and accidentally bang it down on the ground. I almost screamed out in pain. after my sudden outburst, I covered my mouth with my hands. I soon heard ray burst through the door.
"Henry!!! are you ok?? what's wrong!??" ray panicked. he looked absolutely exhausted. he had bags underneath his eyes, his hair was a wreck and was in his pajamas. he could barely keep his eyes open to. I nodded as my reply as he sighed.
"oh shoot!! the orphanage!!" ray yelled yawning in between. I was really concerned. I was about to get up but ray pushed me back down.
"kid, you stay here!! your not coming!" ray said as he put his gum in his mouth.
"what? why?" I asked. ray look at me like I was an idiot. he pointed to my ankle and then I felt stupid."I got this kid!" ray said and stumbled to the tubes. "are you sure your gonna be ok?" I said before he left.
"of course, why would you asked that? he yawned again in between.
"you can barely stay awake ray...face it, your as messed up as I am." I laughed but ray didn't find it quite funny.
"I can do it Henry, just let me go!" he said.
"but ray..I.." I started.

"bye Henry!" he said as he went up the tubes so I can't talk back. I really wanted to do this. "nobody believes in me....I'm gonna make them." I said to myself. this might be crazy of me but who said I was sane. I got my gum and blew a bubble and stumbled over to the tubes. I took a last thought about this and then..."UP THE TUBES" and I was off. ray and I never even said merry Christmas to eachother...
