“Hi!” A short, preppy looking girl with an Australian accent stood at my bench smiling. She had black hair with a purple strea through it.

“Hey.” I said smiling. I flipped my long dark red hair out of my face to look at her.

“I’m Melissa. Your new I haven’t ever seen you before! I come to this park every afternoon and I don’t know you.” She said a little more seriously. I nodded and answered her.

“Oh yeah, I’m Ally. I just moved here to Sydney from New York with my Dad.” I rolled my eyes because I wasn’t exactly happy about it. She sat down next to me on the bench and asked me about myself and what high school I was going to go to.

“OMG!! That’s where I go!” She cried in a tone which pretty much deafened me for a while. She then grabbed her iPhone out of her purse and hit play on a song entitled “Out of My Limit” by a band called 5 Seconds of Summer.

“The boys in this band go to our school Ally!!” She yelled excitedly. I shrugged and listened closer to the music. It was good. And the guitar playing was awesome.

“What’s their names?” I asked. Still barely caring about how they went to our school.

“Luke Hemmings, Calum Hood, Ashton Irwin, and the one and only Michael Clifford. You can’t miss them they travel together in like… a pack… a pack of awesome.” She squealed.

“Oh that’s cool.” I said, sighing. “Well I actually should be getting home, it’s getting dark… And I um need to help my dad!”

“Okay! See you at school tomorrow Ally!” She cried after me as I stood up to walk home.

The park I was at was only a few blocks away from my new house. I bounded up the steps and walked into my living room. My dad was sitting there reading the paper. He looked up at me and smiled.

“Hey darling. Meet anyone at the park?” He asked.

“Oh um yeah a girl named…Melissa I think. She goes to my high school.”

“That’s great! Do you possibly think you could get a ride home with her tomorrow? Sweet heart I have a business trip I need to go on and I won’t be home until Monday.” My mouth dropped.

“But Dad! We just moved here and I barely know this city!” I sighed and calmed down. “But… I guess I can get a ride from her… She seems friendly enough.”

“Great! I can drive you to school in the morning and you can get a ride home from your new friend!” He smiled and went back to reading his paper.

“Yeah okay sure Dad.” I mumbled and shuffled up the stairs into my bedroom. I put my pj’s on and climbed into bed. I grabbed a book off my side table and started reading. I hummed along to the tune of “Out of My Limit” which was stuck in my head. Maybe i would meet new friends at school... But maybe not... Maybe i would just stay depressed forever. No light within.

“Ugh.” I sighed to myself. I flicked off my light-switch and decided to get some sleep for school in the morning. Maybe I’d make some new friends.
