Trigger Warning: minor verbal abuse

• • •

(Y/N)'s POV
My new home was built sturdy and strong, a grand palace that shimmered.  The air was cold and the floor was slick, but I was content.

Here, in my ice fortress, I couldn't hurt anyone, and no one could ever hurt me again.

Don't ask me how (I'm guessing soft snow), but I somehow created plush white sofas.

So there I sat, creating ice swirl designs in the air.  I never really noticed how when I wasn't in a rush or scared, my ice creations were kind off...pretty.

The crystal-like chandeliers and ornate doorways were beautiful and smooth. Even the large stairway leading up to the door was sleek and eye catching.

Maybe, if I could learn to control myself better, I could go back, back to the Pevensies, to Edmund, and to Caspian.

"You think they'll let you slide right back into their lives after what you've done?"

Oh, no. Not her, not now.

"Look at me, daughter of mine. Listen when your mother speaks!"

"What?" I snarled, glancing around the large room that served as a lounge. I stood up defensively, but still couldn't see her.

"You are such a disappointment! You could have been feared and powerful! Yet you threw it all away...Everything I worked for."

"Yeah, well, I don't really care what you think," I shouted angrily. My voice echoed around the empty room. "Just leave me be!"

"Tsk, tsk."

Suddenly in a wave of icy wind, my eyes found her figure.

I had only seen what my mother looked like twice, on my 5th and 10th birthday.

She looked just as startling as she did then.

Her face was jagged and pale, her eyes glinting with hate. Her white wavy hair swayed around her glowing figure.

"I just came to remind you of how terrible you are. How you are so pitiful, so stupid, and so disappointing.  That foolish boy you love would never want to be with a demon like you!  Your so-called brother hates you! The people you called friends have shunned you!"

I couldn't take one more second of her words.

"Shut up! You're just a vile, lying spirit, leave me alone!" I shrieked, sending sharp spears of icicles at my mother's figure. With a poof! her figure was gone, the icicles slamming into the ice wall.

Even though Jadis was gone, her words still echoed in my mind.

Fresh tears starting streaming and I fell to my knees, giving up all control I had. All my emotions came through and I sobbed and screamed, my crumpled form a shaking mess on the smooth floors.

Edmund's POV
I slowed my horse to a stop as I neared the looming castle. As I tied my horse to a nearby tree, the shouting became evident.

"Shut up! You're just a vile, lying spirit, leave me alone!"

I immediately recognized (Y/N)'s voice.
Abandoning my half-secured horse, I raced towards the building, my feet pounding on the ice staircase.

"(Y/N)! (Y/N)!" I pounded my fist against the door, it's frame shaking. "Come on...!" I growled, rearing back and pulling out my sword. With a grunt, I let my blade hit the door, shattering it into a million pieces.

"(Y/N)!?" I raced inside, my heart falling as I saw her shuddering frame. Dropping my sword, I ran towards her and dropped to my knees.

"(Y/N)! (Y/N), I'm here, it's okay," I mumbled into her (H/C) hair.

After that, everything happened so quickly.

She elbowed me in the gut, causing me to spiral backwards.

She stood up, her face red and wet with tears.

"You shouldn't of come here, Edmund!" She cried, her voice solemn and quivering.

"Let me help, (Y/N), please," I bargained, moving closer to her slowly, my hands outstretched in a comforting motion.

"I'll hurt you, Edmund! I don't want you to get hurt!" She sobbed loudly. "Just go before I hurt you, please...!"

"You're okay, (Y/N), I'll be fine. Just..." I tired to think of the right words. "Just let me in."

She stopped, her breathing ragged, her (E/C) eyes trailing the ground.

She had looked away, so I took my chance.

I surged towards her and wrapped my arms around her frame before she could do anything.

Her palms were flat against my chest, (Y/N)'s eyes widened and stared into mine.

"You're okay, (Y/N). I've got you. I'll never let you fall," I said, not realizing my voice was a mere whisper

I felt her shoulders relax, and I loosened my grip, sliding my hand down so my palms rested on the small of her back.

We stared at each other for a moment, our breathing in sync.

I decided to take one more chance.

I kissed her.

Ah, the long-awaited kiss has finally come!! I'm writing this on Christmas, so...I guess here's my gift to you guys!
See you in the next chapter...
