Edmund's POV
The Telemarines started to retreat once they figured the trees had finished off half of their army. They were leaving, retreating towards the bridge they had finally finished building. We couldn't let them leave.
My army was tired. We were torn. We needed help.
Aslan himself must of heard my thoughts, because a moment later, Caspian appeared from a low valley, a slew of reinforcements behind him.
They rode triumphantly, their swords, shields, hammers, and bows ready to fight anything that dared to challenge.
The Telemarines were running away, but Caspian and his soldiers knew we couldn't let them get far.
Another quarter of Telemarines were taken out in a few short minutes, our army mowing them down brutally.
The triumph we were facing wasn't enough to stop me from worrying. While everyone else fought, I ran with the Telemarines, after the man her took her from me.
Y/N was far ahead of me. The chariot was hard to keep track of, but I pushed forward. I hadn't run this fast since my days as an adult king. My muscles ached and burned, but I pushed forward.
Hooves slowed me down, a familiar figure ahead of me, saddled on a horse. Caspian sat atop a gray stallion, the two of them looking bloodied.
"Edmund!" Caspian shouted at me, his voice rising above the noise around us. "Where's Y/N?!"
My breathing was so labored I couldn't speak, so I merely shook my head and pointed towards the chariot she was in.
Caspian' face fell as soon as he saw Y/N's limp figure. He glanced at me and put out his hand. "Come on!"
I grabbed ahold his wrist and he pulled me up onto the horse, then quickly pulled against the reins. We weaved our way through the battlefield, Caspian steering the horse while I fought off anyone dumb enough to try to attack us. We made it to the edge of the field, but had lost sight of Y/N.
"The bridge!" I yelled in Caspian's ear, hoping he would understand. Sosespian must be taking her there, I thought, the coward would retreat first.
Caspian nodded and pushed the horse to go faster, which the stallion quickly complied. We rode towards the river, coming to a quick stop as I spotted Sosespian, Y/N, and...Lucy?
My sister was on the other side of the bridge, her hair blowing in the soft breeze. Her small dagger was drawn and she had the slightest mischievous smile on her face.
Caspian and I slid off the horse and ran through crowds of soldiers, the men not paying us any attention as they watched what Lucy would do.
Slowly, another more powerful figure emerged from the trees behind Lucy, his mane shining in the sun like solid gold locks. His feet plodded against the rocks, the sharp claws gripping the pebbles. He stopped as he neared Lucy's side.
"Aslan," I breathed, my chest tightening in excitement and comfort. He could save us. He could save Y/N.
Sosespian was startled by Lucy and Aslan's dramatic entrance, but courageously let out a cry and pushed his horse forward. The horse that pulled the chariot didn't budge.
Angered, he threw Y/N over his shoulder once again, exiting the chariot and shouting, "Attack!"
His soldiers shook out of their trace and started running towards the bridge, Caspian and I running with them.
I wasn't worried for Lucy, she had Aslan. I needed I get to Y/N.
Y/N's POV
I was shaken awake when my body was clumsily picked up. I didn't know where I was for a moment, but a loud roar shook me from my thoughts.I could smell the river and hear the water rushing. I was on the bridge.
I could also smell sweat and feel hard armor underneath me. Sosespian was holding me atop his shoulder.
The loud roar came from the lion that stood a only a few dozen yards ahead of me.
Aslan.
My heart leaped as I met his eyes, and I felt energy start to flow through me. My fingertips twitched and I pushed off Sosespian, finding my strength from the great lion.
The ground beneath me started to shake, and I felt a spray of chilled water come upon me. The wood of the bridge seemed to sway and suddenly I lost my balance, the ground cracking and breaking.
I felt an armored hand grip my forarm and tug me up from the ground. Sosespian had ahold of me again, but I wasn't going to let him touch me one more time. In one smooth movement I ripped off his helmet then reeled back and slapped him across the face, throwing him off balance. The bridge under us was slick with water, so when Sosespian hit me with his steel-covered elbow, we both hit the ground.
I caught myself with my injured arm, and cried out in pain which quickly turned to anger. I was not going to let him beat me.
I formed a club out of ice and brutally hit him with it, slamming him mercilessly twice more as he laid on the ground. I only stopped when a wave came by and knocked me onto my back, sending stings of pain through my already injured rib cage.
I laid there, trying to get my bearings, when I saw the face of a large man made completely of water. He was the one holding the bridge, the one who had broken it in the first place.
I wanted to freeze the giant water being, but he smiled at me so kindly I had no doubt he was on Aslan's side.
Sosespian growled from the ground and started to rise, his cheeks red with anger. He sauntered towards me and raised a pointed piece of wood; a dismembered part of the old bridge. As Sosespian reered back to finish me off, the water giant slammed the bridge back in place, and Sosespian and I were thrown into the air.
I tumbled into the water, face first. I hadn't had time to hold my breath, and I was tired of fighting. The battle was over. Sosespian was gone. I could finally rest.
I shut my eyes and relaxed, sinking softly to the bottom of the river.
