"I will never leave you, I promise," his head fell onto my shoulder. "My first task will take place tomorrow. It's a test of bravery, have any clue as to what may happen?"
"I've heard it's common for them to do something with dragons, but that's when it's held at hogwarts. I have no idea what will happen..."
"Newt, you don't need to worry," I grabbed his hands and held them in mine, "I'll win, for you."
"Really?"
"Really."
We stood up together and walked back inside. "You need to get some rest for tomorrow. Don't worry about going out to the forest with me,I'll make sure to sleep as well so I can watch you win the first task.
I fell asleep, warm under the provided blankets from the school.
"(Y/n)," Newt's voice graced my ears. I hummed in response. "Get up, I must show you something!" I opened my eyes slowly, a slightly annoyed look plastered onto my face, which told Newt that whatever he was doing best be worth it or I would kill him. He beckoned me to follow him, yet I hugged onto my blanket, not willing to leave the warmth and comfort of my bed, "You're making me do this the hard way, aren't you?" He whispered.
I nodded, lifting myself up enough so I just sat on my bed, with Newt coming towards me. I son felt his arms wrap around me, and I was hoisted off of the bed and carried off into one of the common rooms, where a fire was lit, and blankets and pillows were set up for Newt and myself.
"Could you set me down, please?" My voice was quiet as I wasn't truly ready to be awake. Softly, I was placed onto a pillow, facing the warm fire. Next to me was Newt, wrapping a blanket around the two of us. I put my head in his lap, and shut my eyes as he played with my hair. "What did you want to tell me?" I spoke, ridding the area of a comforting silence.
"Oh, yes, that! I figured out what the first task will be." I looked up to Newt, puzzled.
"How in the world did you manage that?"
"We Hufflepuffs are good at finding things," I nodded, agreeing to his statement, "anyways, what you and the others will be forced to do this month is already rattling me to the bone! You will be fighting either a giant squid or a kraken, I didn't hear which.""Great, can't wait. Can you please keep playing with my hair, it's so calming."
"Of course!" He played around with my hair, humming a tune to himself. "I have something else I think you may love," his voice was softer now, the fear and excitement that was once there left, leaving a loving voice to fill my ears. I turned my head towards his eyes, giving him a look, questioning why he stopped fiddling with my hair.
He stretched his body enough to reach for something that was slightly far, yet to the side of him. I closed my eyes once more, the heat from the fire making my eyes fall. Newt's voice aided me to sleep as he read a book about medieval times and animals.
Soon enough Newt fell into the trance of sleep, and he leaned forward, covering me and drifting off. His stomach, rising and and falling with every breath. We each slept, awaiting the first task and the risks that would soon be before us.
