Chapter 26

"Can we be Shay & Michael again?"

Shay's P.O.V

"You kissed!" Emma screamed at me when we were in the car going to the venue. "Then you stopped it? Are you an idiot?!"


"I don't want to get ahead of myself. Until I know how I feel, I don't want things like that to happen."


"But you want him back?" Carter asked looking towards the backseat at me.

"I think so? I don't know. I don't know, you guys. I wish it were an easy yes but there's still so much we would have to talk about & I don't know. I'm sure we'll talk more soon but I don't want to rush it. If it's meant to happen, it will when it's supposed to."

"Well it better happen soon because we need our girl back." Payson said. "You're the one that has always been a piece of this group, it isn't right without you. Not just with you as a friend but we need you with Michael."

"Seeing him brought on this whole new wave of emotion so I'm just trying to figure shit out before we get too involved, you know?"


"But you want him back?" Carter asked again. "Right?"


"I uh, yea. I do, I think. But I can't rush it. If we get back into this, it needs to be right."


"He professed his love for you last night, there's no way this isn't right. Michael is all in." Emma said. "That guy is ready to have you back."


"I know he is. I know he's ready. I just need to make sure I am."

Once we arrived at MSG, it was as if I had been on tour with them all along. I saw so many familiar faces on the tour team, the empty venue felt like I had remembered. The pre-show vibe was alive & well.

The four of us wandered back to the boy's dressing room where the four of them were all sitting on their phones.

"Well there's my eye candy." Luke joked as we all walked in. "Hi ladies."

"That's so weird. You're strange." Emma shook her head. "But hi baby."

Everyone said hello to their significant others while I just awkwardly waved at Michael.

Calum turned up the music & everyone hung around for awhile, we had some food over at catering, & they got ready for their gig.

I made some small talk with Michael but I mostly hung out with Calum. I wasn't sure what to say to Michael yet so I guess I chose to say nothing at all.

Once their opening acts went on stage, I stood on the side to watch since I hadn't seen them perform yet. The boys had to get ready to go on stage so Carter stood with me to watch.

"Are things weird with Michael?" She asked me.

"A little. I don't want it to be but we had such a weird night last night so it's just, I don't know. We're in a tough spot."

"Shay?"

"Yea?"

"I know it's not my place but I really think you need to follow your heart. Shay, I know you love the guy & I know his heart is only filled with you. I may be a little selfish & just want my two favorite people back together but I really do think sometimes you just have to jump. Go all in. Hell, I married Ashton after knowing him less than two years. We were engaged after a year together. But I knew it was Ashton. I knew we'd go through shit, I knew I'd miss him at times because his career would take him from me, but goddamn I love Ashton. I love what we have. I would hate to see you lose that with Michael. & I know this might sound fucking insane but sometimes I think Michael loves you more than Ashton could ever love me. I used to to think I couldn't love Ashton the way you love Michael. I literally used to think that you two had something so special that even my strongest love to Ashton couldn't compare."
