I remember that day like it was yesterday.

If I could relive any day of my life, I would relive that exact day but the thing is, I wouldn't change a single thing. Have you ever had one of those days where you look back on your life and one day just sticks out? One perfect day where everything felt so right and you were at your happiest? I would give anything just to relive that one day. My biggest fear is that he would forget. I pray every night that he wouldn't forget but something in my mind always tells me otherwise. Was that day just perfect in my eyes? I hope not. It's easy to forget something that happened 16 years ago. My name is Clara Jones and this is my story.

Age Four

Playing in the mud was fun but playing in the maze was even better. The feel of the wind pushing against my face and the plants brushing up against my finger tips felt amazing. I loved hearing the birds chirping early in the morning and the feeling of the sunlight rays glistening on me. But that wasn't even the best part. The maze was the best part. No I am not talking about the book The Maze Runner if you are thinking that so please get your mind out of the gutter.

Every day in the morning my parents woke up really early and worked at the bakery. It felt very tedious staying at the bakery mainly because nobody ever comes. My parents always thought that I was playing in the fields at the back of the bakery but I was actually playing in a huge colourful garden. I called it the maze because there are tons of paths to take and you could easily get lost like a maze. I liked it because no matter what, I always found an exit.

One day though was different. One day I was playing in the maze and instead of finding the exit that I always went out from, I found another path. This one lead me to a dark cave and being the curious child I was, I went in the cave. I rarely got scared so I thought that this would be a piece of cake.

It was a small cave. It was broader than it was long. Luckily for me it was daytime so that helped me see better.

My parents always described me as the girl in a thriller film that goes into the closet even though people in the theater are screaming at the dumb girl not to. Curiosity was the one thing that I seemed to never get rid of. I hate when I am in my Dora The Explorer mode because it always leads me to trouble.

I was never the type to be afraid of monsters or the boogie man although I did used to believe in the Easter bunny and Santa Claus. Who wouldn't believe in a white bearded man who loves cookies and gives out presents? The presents are proof that he is real, or so I thought at the time.

When I reached the very end of the cave I found thick, dark green vines. It was pretty strange finding vines in a closed off cave but I think that made me even more curious and determined to walk into the cave.

Then I heard a strange tapping noise. I didn't know where that peculiar noise came from so I stood there for a moment and concentrated which direction the noise was coming from. The noise sounded like the sound that you hear when people walk on muddy trails after a long and hard rainfall. As I got closer to the vines, the tapping sound got louder. With my tiny fingers I wrenched the vines away from the cave wall and behind it was a huge waterfall.
