Our Promise

Telling Him

Recap:

"If you give me Dominic's ring then I will leave. I will go back to where I used to live and never bother your son again."

After I told them my deal they both stood up and left the room. I didn't know where they went but I knew that I could not just wander around in the house because I would get lost. It was easy to get lost in a house so big like this one. If they ever owned any animals then I would feel really bad for them.

I stood up from the couch that I was sitting at and looked around the room. Why did they all of a sudden leave the room. I just made a deal with them and they just left?

Just as I was going to take my chance at exploring the house I saw Patty and Ronald come into the room with a small brown box.

"You better not back out of this deal girl." Ronald said as he gave me the brown box. I opened the latch at the side at there it was. Dominic's ring. I could not speak anymore so instead I just nodded and got the butler to help me find my way out of this place.

All I could do was stare at the box. I stared at it as I drove home. I stared at it when I was in my room.

Did I make the right choice?

The next day I skipped work which I knew was wrong but I did it anyways because I wanted to prepare myself for what was about to happen today.

I sent Dominic a text early in the morning telling him that I was not going to show up today but I also sent him another text telling him to meet me at the field next to the park that we both went to while I was trying to get to know him. Get to know him, please. I know more about him then he even does about himself.

Why does he not remember me? He says that he remembers a girl when he was younger and he says he remembers 'all' the memories about the girl except for who the girl is. I thought that when his parents asked about the ring that was on my finger he would for sure remember but apparently he doesn't.

I looked down at my phone and noticed that Dominic was ten minutes late.

Now I know how it feels whenever girls are late for their dates and the poor guys have to wait. Did I just think Dominic was a girl? I have the weirdest mind in the whole world. I mean, just the other day I thought that I saw a shooting star. Turns out it was just a bird flying.

"Clara." I turned around on the rock that I was sitting on and saw Dominic waving at me from across the field. By the time I got up from the rock I was sitting at, he already stood in front of me.

"Why did you not come to work today?" Dominic asked as he sat down on the rock beside where I was previously sitting at.

"I had more important things on my mind than going to work." I sat down so now we were sitting side by side.

"Penny for your thoughts?" he asked as he took out a penny from his pocket.

"I thought they don't make pennies anymore?"

"I still keep them. Reminds me that there used to be pennies. Anyways what's on your mind?"

"I don't know where to begin." I took out the small box from underneath the rock and placed it in his hands.

Dominic looked at me for a minute almost like he was studying me before opening the latch on the side. Inside was his ring. The ring that he was supposed to wear when he was younger.

"Is this supposed to mean anything to me?" he asked as he took out the ring and put it on one of his fingers.

I smiled painfully as I took off my ring from my hand. There was a mark on my hand where the ring used to be. I held out my hand and placed my ring into his hand. That was the first time I ever took it off and I felt a great deal of pain in my chest as I gave it to him. I was the one to recieve it from him and now I am giving back the ring that he gave to me.
