Jimin was seeing it all from a different perspective now. Looking through the glass window, seeing the life support machines all hooked up to Jungkook.
Once so lively looking, how he used to smile and laugh with them. Even when he got far to carried away in Mario kart. The youthfulness he had possessed, despite all of the pressures to grow up so quickly because of their immense fame.
Even being away from his real family for so long, he was always so... Well, alive.
And now, through the looking glass, Jimin saw something else. Pale skin, and sunken eyes. The only movement was the soft rise and fall of his chest. Even that was regulated by a machine. Jimin swore he wouldn't cry. He couldn't cry right now.
But he felt like he was losing his world.
Jimin didn't think that everything would end up this way. He had far different plans for this weekend. And after the other night, in the cabin..
Jimin pressed his forehead to the glass. He couldn't bring himself to go inside. His mind screamed for him to be there, like Namjoon was for Jin, but... His feet wouldn't move. Jimins eyes sting with tears.
He had confessed to Jungkook. In the middle of his fever, late in the middle of the night.
It's over, isn't it? Small thoughts echoed in the back of his mind. What if he doesn't wake up?
For Jimin, it seemed all too real.
When they were together, it was like the world melted away and reality was just a bad dream. When they joked around, Jimin's insecurities melted away. All his worries of needed to look better, never making up to expectations- it didn't matter. Escape. They were eachothers escape from all of that.
But now this was real. There was no escape from reality for Jimin. Because he could lose Jungkook.
Oh, no, it wasn't just him who was losing someone important.
Everyone else could too. The little glue that held them all together, that completed everyone. If any of the seven were to be gone it would ruin them all.
If I hadn't had gotten sick, if I had been there with them too maybe it would've ended differently. If I had helped could I have stopped this? Surely Jimin figured he wasn't the only one thinking these thoughts.
There was a hand on Jimins shoulder, and he turned a little to see Hobi. He was wearing an uncharacteristically sad expression, something Jimin rarely saw. This made the vice around his heart tighten even farther.
"We can go in now. " Hobi said, and Jimin looked to see Tae, Yoongi, and Namjoon standing there as well.
Jimin nodded, seeing that his voice had run somewhere.. Somewhere better than this, most likely. Hobi opened the door, and it creaked slightly. He stood to the side, allowing Jimin to go in first.
Jimins feet felt like lead. He could heart the machines now. It was so much louder than with the door closed. He was dead frozen for a full minute, before summoning up every bit of courage and resolve he had left inside to make those torturous few steps inside the room, and towards his bedside.
Jimin was only faintly aware of everyone else's shuffled footsteps follow him inside. His eyes were locked on Kookie, laying there near lifeless looking. Jimin tentatively reached out and touched his hand, feeling cold to the touch. Far different than all those times he had grabbed his hand, feeling the warmth that seemed to spread through his whole body, making the pain go away.
