Chapter 3 – Niall

As I towel dry my hair for school, I decide to actually style it today, knowing I have to impress...someone.

“Oh my god, Niall, hurry up!” Natalie’s voice sounds through the door and I groan, hanging my towel up and opening the door.

“Get in, I’m doing my hair,” I say and she raises her eyebrows at me as she cautiously walks past me.

“Who are you trying to impress? Scored yourself a hot guy or...?” She asks, stripping her shirt off as she turns the water on for the shower. I look away, plugging the hairdryer in as she strips to get in the shower.

“No one,” I smile to myself “Absolutely no one.”

“You know I’ll find out sooner or later,” she states through the shower curtain.

“Yeah, but you won’t find out until I tell you, unlike with you and Zayn,” I say and she sighs.

“Well, I was actually going to tell you that afternoon since he came over, but he told you at school...so, there went that plan,” she says, pulling the curtain back and pointing toward the vanity “Can you pass me that shampoo bottle, please?”

I hand it to her and she continues her shower as I style my hair upward, using hairspray to keep it in place. I smile at my reflection, already knowing he’ll love it...he used to love my hair like this.

“Are you done? I need to get out and my towel is on the other side of the room,” Nat says from the shower and I smile.

“I’m gone,” I say, closing the door loudly to reassure her. I make my way to my room quickly to pick out my outfit. I decide on a pair of dark wash skinny jeans and a nice and simple white V-neck shirt. I slip my feet into my Pumas that I haven’t worn for awhile and pack my bag with my books, bopping to the song in my head.

“Niall! Come on, we’ll be late!” Natalie calls as I hitch my satchel on my shoulder, checking my reflection one last time, and leave my room.

“I’m coming!” I yell, jumping the last few steps to meet my sister. She smiles knowingly at me and I smile back. I follow her outside to her car; I get in the passenger side as she starts the car, humming along to the music.

“Since when do you listen to...?” I pick up the case “Pierce the Veil?”

“Zayn got me into them,” she says simply as she pulls out of the driveway “Vic Fuentes has an amazing voice!”

“It’s okay, I guess,” I say as the song keeps playing. Nat sings along in the parts she knows as we make the short drive to school.

“Did you hear about the massive fight between Harry and Tyler?” She asks cautiously and I gulp, trying not to smile at his name.

“I heard,” I say simply “Apparently it was pretty bad.”

“Harry stood up for you, Niall,” she says “He literally got in a fight with Tyler over you!”

“And?” I ask, acting like I don’t care.

“He must like you!” She says and I shake my head.

“Harry Styles doesn’t like me...he’s the jock that cycles through chicks,” it hurts to say it...it really does.

“Whatever, but when it comes true, don’t say I didn’t tell you,” she coos as she parks the car “Oh, and I’m happy for you and whoever your guy is.” And with that, she leaves the car. I smile as I exit as well, her locking it just after my door closes.
