"no ashton it's fine. you can crash here, really. luke and michael are here so i mean it would be rude to not include you." i chucked, opening my front door. it smelled like cinnamon rolls when you walked in, the intense smell snaking my nose.
"hey cal, i hope you don't mind i made you some cinna-" della walked out of the kitchen, wiping her hands together. she stopped when she saw ashton and i with our heads cocked to one side. i swear i heard ashton ask "jen?" under his breath, very faint.
"hey della," i said, looking at ashton. his eyes were wide, staring at my neighbor.
"i'm a-ashton. your names della, yeah?" he stuttered, walking over to her and shaking her hand.
"yes. um, cal, two boys barged in here and kind of took all of your snacks and are sitting in your living room so i didn't know whether to call the police. i'll let you handle it." she giggled, throwing her thumb back in the direction of my living room.
"guys! i swear if you took my munchies, someone's gonna die!" i yelled, jogging over to the couch. i jumped over it and landed between my two other best friends, luke and michael.
"you smurf!" i yelled as michael continued to eat my favorite snack. i called him a smirk because well, his hair was blue.
"cal pal look man it doesn't have to be this way!" he screamed as i chased him. michael being michael, he was still scarfing my chips down his throat while i ran after him.
he stopped by the side of della.
"by the way, when luke and i came this hot girl was like baking in your kitchen man! is she one of those japanese robots? ooh, ash, we should see if she has parts like a real girl!" michael yelled, hooking his arm with dellas. i scratched the back of my neck awkwardly and ashton turned a bright red. luke smirked then busted out in a fit of giggles.
"mate.. she's not a robot!" ashton laughed, bending down.
michaels cheeks were now engulfed in a huge pink blush. serves him.
"i'm sorry miss, i don't really disrespect women like that- i just want to-" michael was saying, basically rambling. della shook her head while smiling and said, "it's really not a problem."
i smirked at the boys, nodding for them to go over in another room. they did just that.
"so della, those are my best friends." i said with a smile from ear to ear.
"i can tell. you're happy with them." she smiled, pulling me into the kitchen.
"here. i thought these would cheer you up after last night!" she cheered, showing me the cinnamon rolls and the peanut butter cookies she had made.
i love peanut butter cookies.
so did jen.
"whoah! i love peanut butter!" i yelled, taking two and putting them in my mouth. she giggled as i chewed.
"OOOOH DA LEE DA LAAAAAAA!" michael was screaming at the too of his lungs.
"michael yOU ARE YELLING!" ashton screamed back. (get the reference omg)
i peeked out the kitchen to see luke right next to the door listening closely to our conversation.
"hey mate." i said and luke jumped.
"i was just i was um i was-"
"you were just eavesdropping on our conversation you blonde banana!"
"anyways, are we gonna go? i'm hungry." michael said, joining our conversation.
"yeah yeah. della, would you like to come? there's a new italian place downtown. it's supposed to be really really good." i said, smiling. she nodded her head and winked at me.
we all piled into my car. the whole way downtown it was either yelling for someone to stop touching them, giggles, or simply just yelling lyrics at the top of our lungs.
but i liked it that way.
i never thought that i could feel happiness again, especially after jen. she was my rock and she was what made my day. like i said, jen was my sunshine.
"whoah, this place is fancy!" della said, looking out the window at the four story building.
i parked the car and looked back at everyone.
"listen you knuckle heads. this is a very classy place, yeah? so don't act like children, mind that we are eating by OTHER people who are fancy. be fancy. okay?" i said, eyeing their faces. they looked at me with serious expressions.
i help open the door for della and walked in behind her. the guys whimpered, most likely because i wasn't being a gentlemen to them. they better not be obnoxious.
"table for hood." i stated, the waiter nodded his head.
this restaurant smelled like breadsticks.
"here sir. drinks?" he said, pulling out his notepad.
i pulled out a seat for della. she sat down and smiled lightly at me and i gladly returned that.
"water please." i said, the rest of the boys ordered soda and della ordered tea. basic.
"cAlum! this food is so good!" michael yelled, earning mean glances from old people.
"michael shut up." i said, lifting up my spoon to my lips.
della nudged my side, flicking her head towards michael. another waiter was by his side; blushing uncontrollably. michael was smiling at her, and i swear his eyes showed interest.
"awe. maybe he finds himself a girlfriend, so he can stop messing with me." i joked. i saw the waitress write down something on her notepad, hand it to michael, and walk away. michael looked at us all looking at him and his eyes went wide.
i busted out in a fit of laughter. it's funny to see michael get all flustered over some girl.
"i'm full calum." like sighed, tossing his fork down.
"why do all of you tell me these things? i'm not your dad. " i rolled my eyes, leaning back.
---
"okay calum, i'm gonna head home. it's really late, ill see you tomorrow." della said, twisting the knob on my door.
i leaned in and kissed her on her cheek. i quickly pulled away and looked down, embarrassed from my action. i heard her chuckle, then felt her hand on the back of my neck, pulling me down. then i felt her lips press against my cheek softly.
"bye calum." she smiled and then she was gone.
della.
