Elemental Masters: Awakening

Prologue

You see, I have these unique powers. Some might think it’s a blessing but I think it’s just a curse. They call us Elemental Masters; we’re a kind of human that has evolved due to the release of excessive radioactive plasma used in WW3 to wipe out entire nations resulting in the destruction of the earth surface. A few people from the war were immune to the radioactivity of the plasma and created a new civilisation, they are known the Forefathers. All was prosperous and well in the new world except for the fact that certain resources, such as Ionride, which were necessary to revive the technological level of man past the twentieth century had been destroyed during the war. But this wasn’t the worst of it, some of the forefather’s descendants turned out “wrong” and possessed exceptional, unstable abilities. They were able to bend natural elements at will. The newly formed nations which had been created by the forefathers struggled to obtain this rare species of human to use for military might, if ever needed. When captured, the Elemental Masters were shipped to special facilities where they learnt how to control their powers, or at least tried to, killing a lot of innocent (and not so innocent people) in the process. It was soon realised that these monsters were uncontainable and were classified as deadly unstable creatures. They were soon either killed or isolated to prevent any more damage being caused to the earth, I know cruel right. Soon the threat of Elemental Masters died down, some (who were able to control their powers, that is decently to say) joined the police force or the hunt to track down rogue Elemental Masters in hiding, others were still on the run or were able to slip into the normal world, the rest of them killed or isolated.
Each person was able to control a specific element of the universe, for example the leader of the task force to hunt down rogue Elemental Masters for a cash prize (kinda like a bounty hunter) Demetrius can control the shadows, and me, I can control nature, like trees and animals ‘n’ stuff. Apart from our original powers we also have one special power. It can be either related to the element that a master can control or be completely different entirely. Demetrius can travel through shadows and I can…well my power is kind of complicated. I can absorb (so far as I know) any attack with a kind of miniature shield made of energy the size of a frying pan, the I can send back the attack in an energy ball form but twice as power as the original attack. It’s not like our powers are unlimited, no, they’re governed by a certain amount of energy, the basic concept is the strong the attack or defence, the move energy it takes. Like my special move it takes a lot of energy. The amount of energy in an elemental varies; some have a large amount while others not so much. Wow, I just realised you don’t know my name well it’s Kyle, Kyle of the 9th Grade, yeah I know it isn't King Henry the First but still, I think it’s awesome. I’ve been able to live a pretty normal life in Johis, a small town in Gropton in the country of Queenland (formally known as Toronto, Canada). No one yet knows of my unusual talents. My story like many others starts on a Monday morning.
