AHH, there was a panther in the school. A real-life panther, AHHHHH. What the hell.  How did it even get into my school? Oh, yeah for those who don't know me I'm Sam, Kyle's best friend. I'm still pissed at him for trying to get me into detention; I don't know what’s wrong with him. Why would he decide to try and get me in trouble? So anyway, where was I; yes, AHHHHHHH there was a panther in my class. We all reacted differently, half of the class jumped out of the window, while some tried to hide in the cupboard. Others were frozen in place where they were like me, I was stuck looking through the window frozen with fear. Even though it was a baby panther I knew it was going to kill us here. I still had so many dreams to fulfil. It paced about for two minutes and then strolled out into the hallway.
Still thinking of how the panther was gonna come back and kill me, I saw, to my surprise, Kyle stand up and walk into the corridor. That boy seriously had a death wish.
"Kyle, what the hell are you doing?!" I shouted on him.
"Don't worry I've got this," he said looking back with a smirk on his face.
It was true, he had finally given up on life, and ran into the corridor to go and confront the dangerous beast which was in fact a baby panther.
I continued to look at his progress through the window of the class. He walked towards the panther not showing any signs of fear, and then did the weirdest thing. Kyle knelt down and started talking to the panther in weird purrs and growls as if he were a panther, himself. At first I thought my friend had gone mad and thought he could communicate with a panther but when I looked closer I realised that they were have a deep conversation.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, HOW COULD MY BEST FRIEND TALK TO A PANTHER? IT DID NOT MAKE ANY LOGICAL SENSE. He was just kneeling in front of it; it almost looked like he was giving the darn thing a serious scolding. I seriously needed to talk to him about keeping secrets, especially ones which involves one of us having the ability to talk to panthers.
After a heated conversation that lasted well over ten minutes, the panther walked towards the exit looking quite frustrated and Kyle came back into the class as if nothing happened and sat down on his seat. Nobody in the class even questioned him on what happened, what the panther said or how he could talk to the panther at all.
‘Dude what the hell was that, you just talked to a freaking panther. How is that even possible?!’ I questioned him.
‘What the hell are you talking about,’ he said giving me a “are you going crazy” look. He better watch himself he was the one that was crazy.
‘Don't act like you don't know what just happened with that panther just now,’ I said starting to get a little angry.
‘What panther?’ he replied giving a “do you need mental help” look. I really have figured out all his strange looks.
‘Don't act like I'm going crazy,’ I stated.
‘It kinda seems like you are.’
‘So you're telling me that you didn't just go out of the class and have a conversation with a panther.’
‘How is that even possible?’ asked Kyle
‘Why are you asking me you were the one who did it,’ I replied.
‘But I didn't,’ he said.
‘Ugh, Tommy,’ I said looking to Tommy who was standing next to me. ‘Didn't you just see that panther in the corridor?’
‘Which panther?’ Tommy replied.
‘Exactly,’ said Kyle.
Was it true, was I really going insane? Did I really just I imagine the panther. But everyone saw it; we all reacted to it, though now everyone had returned to their seats as if nothing had happened. Did I imagine the reactions too? Was I becoming schizophrenic?
‘Okay then, if you didn't just go and talk to a panther why did you go outside?’ I asked trying to catch Kyle out.
I really hoped this was all some kind of elaborate prank played by Kyle; first trying to get me in detention and then tricking me into thinking that he was able to talk to panthers.
‘I went to the toilet. Is it a crime?’ asked Kyle sarcastically.
The nerve of this guy.
‘Okay then smart guy, where is the rest of the class,’ I asked pointing around to where all the students who jumped out of the class once where. I had finally caught him.
‘Dude its recess and you’re delaying me,’ said Kyle.
With that comment he left me alone in the room as everyone else had left during the course of the argument. I stood up and started to walk to the toilet to freshen myself up not realizing that it would change my life, FOREVER.
