"What did he do to me?" I asked myself as I lay in bed staring at the ceiling above me. Said man had left earlier that week to join with the rest of his army as they attack the rebels, no...
My people.
How will I ever manage to explain to him that I was a runaway rebel? That I was once in the military and daughter of their leader?
I couldn't. He'd use me to get information, torture me if he had to. I will tell him when the time was right. Which will hopefully be never. I sighed and turned on my side, grabbing the letter that he sent me and reading it to myself.
Dear Isabelle,
I apologize for leaving without speaking to you, but I couldn't wake you up after you stayed up so late reading. Anyway, since you're reading this then you should know that I arrived safely and that everything is going fine.
Just don't burn down the Fortress before I return.
~Alexei
It was probably the least sentimental thing he could have written, but at least he apologized for up and leaving like he did.
I reread it over and over again. Maybe I should write him back?
Without anything else to do I picked up a pen and piece of paper and began to write.
Dearest Prince,
Alexei's P.O.V. 3 Days Later
Training had just ended for the day so I sat on my bunk next to Charles, who was one of my closest, non-noble friends that I had.
"Abraham Smith!" The post man yelled over the chatter as excited young men waited their turn to read what their loved ones wrote to them about.
"Poor boys, so excited to hear from their mommies." Charles joked as some of the younger men sat on the edge of their bunks waiting to hear their names, before jumping up when it was called.
"Yeah it's-" Pathetic...
"Alexei Vitsins!" Everyone was suddenly quiet when my name was called. I slowly stood and walked over to the post man. "Thank you."
I mumbled under my breath before taking the letter and walking back to my spot. My sisters don't write to me, they don't have time to, and my father had better things to attend to.
Maybe Vlad?
As soon as I sat down I tore the envelope open and began to read.
Dearest Prince,
Too late. Didn't you see the news? I accidently burned the whole fortress down so now we're stuck with one of your sisters. I'll let you chose.
Since you're reading this I survived the fire, along with Stitch. Sorry, you're stuck with me.
~Isabelle
He couldn't help but laugh at how she continued his joke. But, she most certainly won't hear the end of it. Before Charles even dared to ask him who wrote to him, he grabbed his pen and some paper and began to write.
Dearest Princess,
Isabelle's P.O.V. 2 Days Later
I was eating breakfast, alone, with Vlad standing off to the side like he usually did. "I thought I told you to sit down and join me?" I asked annoyed at his unresponsiveness.
"I thought I told you that it was rude of me to do that. Besides, if I'm needed for anything who else would handle it?" I glared at him evilly before saying the words that he's dreaded the past few days.
