The children had all gone to bed when we sat down in a drawing room. It was strange to see everyone had a significant other, besides Charles who was awkwardly eating some cookies.
"Can we have that talk now?" Nicky asked us, even though he was mainly focused on his wife. "Yes, this seems like a good time to have a discussion over what to do."
I held onto Alexei's hand out of reflex, and he squeezed my hand in return. "Our Father is dead, and as you know neither of us wish to continue the family legacy. With no direct descendants from the Romonofski clan besides ourselves, the war is basically over. The question at hand is what are we going to do."
For the first time in my life, I watched Nicholas take the lead and be the heir father always wanted him to be. "It may be hard, but we need to come up with a plan to bring both sides together, make it impossible for them to continue fighting."
Alexei was now in his business mode, all silliness that existed at times was gone and his face as blank as can be.
"How would we do that? The only way to truly end all rebellions would mean both families ruling, and we can't do that without splitting up the country further."
Alexei seemed to be soaking in every one of Nicky's words and calculating them into a conclusion. Nicholas however, was watching the two of us, almost as if he was studying every last interaction we had.
"How long have you two been dating?" My eyes went wide as my head snapped up to look at my brother. Alexei's cheeks dusted pink as he cleared his throat and calmed down some.
"About seven months. Why does it matter?" Nicholas' eyes seemed to sparkle a bit, almost as if he came up with an evil idea. "Have you two said the L-word yet?"
If I was drinking something, I surely would have spit it out then and there. In embarrassment I stood up, my cheeks a bright red, and exited the room. "I will see you in the morning."
With that I walked into my old room and cuddled with Stitch until I fell asleep.

Alexei sighed as he watched Isabelle storm out of thr room. "No," He responded tiredly, "We haven't."
He watched as Angelica smacked her husband, yet again, on the back of the head like usual. "You can't keep your mouth shut for five minutes, now can you?"
Nicholas felt a little bad, but he assumed that if she allowed Alexei to sleep in the same bed then she-
She did love him! She just hasn't told anyone yet.
"Are you planning to confess any time soon?" He watched as the Prince's face became a darker shade of pink as he averted his eyes.
"Aww!" It was no shock that the sisters would speak at the same time, but everyone looked at Charles when he gushed with them.
"You're in the army, man!" Said man went back to eating his cookies silently with a blush on his cheeks.
"I don't see how our love life has anything to do with bringing peace to this nation." Alexei glared when his sisters began to giggle uncontrollably.
"Don't worry little brother, you're not the only oblivious man." The two began to laugh a bit harder but stopped when Charles spoke up. "Even I know what they're implying!"
Yet again everyone looked at the lonely man with quizzical looks on all of their faces. Alexei, tired of everyone dancing circles around him, rubbed his forehead and addressed the man.
"And what, pray tell, are they implying." Charles ignored the glares from everyone else and answered with an innocent smile on his face.
"Well, you're the Prince of the Vitsins, and she's the Princess of the Romofskis. The only way to bring peace is to have both families in power. If you two got hitched-"
