"So, how far is this place again?" I asked staring at the map on top of the hood of the green car Rick and Carl were driving when they first found me.
"It's about a two hour drive." Rick said staring at the map also.
"Okay, just let me go get my things." I nodded and walked away from the car and towards the prison.
"Hey," uncle Daryl jogged over to me and bumped me in the shoulder. "You be careful out there." He said walking with me.
"Always am." I glanced up at him.
"I've been meaning to talk to you about something but I'll wait until you get back." We had just entered the prison but I stopped at the top of the stairs. He had gone down the four stairs before realizing I stopped and he turned to look at me.
"What is it?" I asked pulling my eyebrows together in curiosity.
"It can wait." Daryl said sternly but I wasn't budging. He brought it up and that's all that will be on my mind during the run. I could get distracted and distraction means death.
"Just tell me now. You brought it up." I said as I started to make my way towards my cell again. My uncle didn't speak until we were in my cozy little cell.
"I was thinking, if you wanted to, we could," he paused taking a deep breath, "go look for your brother and sister."
I was in the middle of checking my gun to make sure it was fully loaded but I froze completely. I put my gun down and slowly spun around to face my uncle who was leaning against the door frame. "Are you serious?" I asked with wide eyes that were starting to fill with tears.
"Course I am." He said. I took two big steps towards him before jumping into his arms and burying my head in the crook of his neck. "Thank you." I whispered and a few tears fell from my eyes. I let go and quickly wiped my cheeks before going back to getting my things.
"I'll find you when you get back." Uncle Daryl kissed the top of head and disappeared behind my curtain for a door.
I paused and took a deep breath trying to calm my nerves down. I slung my empty backpack,- besides two water bottles -, on my back and made my way back outside.
"Ready." I told Rick as him, Carl and Michonne stood by the car going over the plan one last time. Judith was running out of formula, we needed more gas and some of the people requested a few things for us to pick up if we happened to come across it.
"Okay, let's get going." We all climbed into the car, Rick at the wheel, Michonne riding shotgun and me and Carl in the back. We drove out of the gates and away from the prison.
Rick played a CD while I stared out the window at the passing trees or fields. I watched a walker emerge from the forest and wonder into a large, grassy field. Poor bastard was heading towards us but he'd never catch up. It reminded me of the day Carl and Rick found me.
The drive was peaceful. It was silent most of the way besides the music. Rick and Michonne would make small talk every now and then but that was about it. When we arrived at a supermarket I was glad to see there was only about a dozen outside of the store. Nothing the four of us couldn't handle.
We climbed out of the car and walked towards all of the dead freaks. I pulled my knife out, Michonne her katana, Carl his own knife and Rick a machete. I decided to take out the first walker. A girl, her face completely chewed up. She growled and extended her rotting arms towards me and she staggered over thinking I'd be her next meal. When she got close enough I kicked her in the back of the leg causing her to fall face first on the pavement before I put my knife deep into the back of her skull. The others joined in killing the walkers until we cleared out the parking lot.
