A Separating Blow

"No, absolutely not!"

"I'm sorry, did you get the thought that you control me?"

"As your boyfriend, I'm supposed to be protecting you!"

"Protecting and controlling are 2 very different things!"

"Yes, well when you start acting like an idiot, they become one in the same!"

"I'm the one acting like an idiot? You're the one that wants to hold hands with Umbridge and sing kumbia!"

"How do you not see that you're acting like a child?"

"How do you not see that you're willing to let the ministry walk all over you?"

"Did you forget what happened last time you went against her?"

"No, I assure you the scars aren't fading, seeing as they're constantly done over!"

"Perhaps if you didn't get detention constantly-"

"Perhaps if you're new favorite person wasn't such an idiot, I wouldn't have to correct her causing me to get detention!"

"Will you just pretend to be sane for five seconds?" He yelled. His hand slammed onto the wall and my instincts took over. My wand was pointed at him, daring him to come closer. "Eli..." He started to move towards me.

"Stay away from me," as he stepped forward I stepped backwards. I got out the door before he moved again. I stuffed my wand into my robes and sprinted to the Slytherin common rooms. When I got there, Umbridge was waiting. "What do you want?"

"I have an anonymous tip that says you have a non approved familiar on the grounds."

"Do you mean my dog? I got approval for her before my first year. Professor Dumbledore even sent me a note allowing her with my letter this year. I can dig it out of my trunk if you'd like," I said sickly sweet.

"If you'd please," she said sarcastically.

"Right this way professor," I said. I whistled loudly twice. Surprisingly, Caina hopped down the steps instantly. I kneeled as she ran into my arms and started licking my face. "Distract," I whispered in her ear. "I'll go get that paper for you."

Caina jumped on Umbridge and I ran up to my room. Ginny, Luna, Carson and 'Moine were on my bed. "Get into my trunk," I hissed.

"What-"

"Shhhh, Umbridge is downstairs. Caina's distracting her, but get into my trunk." They obeyed and jumped in. I snapped my fingers and a fake-bottom slid out. "Accio Caina's note," the note flew into my hand.

Umbridge, who had finally escaped Caina, came up. I purposely left my trunk open, so she could be fooled into thinking it was a regular old trunk. I handed her the note and stroked Caina's ear.

"Thank you, miss Black," she smiled tightly. She walked away as I collapsed on my bed. After a few minutes they crawled out.

"Everything alright, Eli?"

"I need some alone time," I told them. They all obeyed, leaving me. I opened my trunk and went to my animal room. Caina jumped onto her bed. Bianca nodded her head at me. Nimue curled her way around my leg till she hung around my neck. Morgana gave me an easy look before returning to her lunch. Merlin was curled around Lancelot, taking a cat nap. I instantly felt lighter. Each one had a story, another animal in the room the were best friends with. Morgana and Bianca were always at eachother's side when I didn't need them. Merlin and Lancelot came to me together. Nimue and Caina liked to race eachother around the rooms.
