The first thing I saw was my mom with a strand of pearls around her neck serving some super fancy dinner. Then I saw my brother look at us and smile. He hardly ever smiles it was really weird. The my sister smiled at him and batted her eyelashes really obviously and my dad was setting the table. We walked over to my mom to try to help but she insisted she was fine. We sat down just as my siblings were too. Zoe sat down in Ethan's usual spot so she could sit across from Dalton, but Ethan looked totally fine with this change of spots. My parents put the plates on the table and sat down. The first couple of minutes were silent and it was a nice usual family dinner. I don't think Dalton realized we didn't really talk because he looked pretty nervous. My mom finally started a small conversation.

"So Dalton, do you play any sports?" She asked him pretty awkwardly.

"Not anymore but I used to play hockey." He said looking slightly relieved to be talking. Ethan's face looked right up and he smiled again. Well at least Ethan liked him. I could tell because he almost never smiled at anyone.

"Oh, Ethan plays hockey. His team actually won their game this morning." Said my mother proudly. I rolled my eyes but no one saw.

"Really, that's cool. What level do you play?" He asked glad about keeping the conversation going.

"I play bantam a." Ethan replied without looking up from his food.

"That's really good. Do you do any sports Zoe?" He asked not wanting to sit in the awkward silence that my family is used to.

"I do synchronized swimming. My team won silver last year so we're training really hard for the gold this year." She said beaming proudly. She did it almost everyday during the summer. I was starting to get annoyed with the amount of times she talked about it. It was her like non stop talking and now that Dalton had brought it up she was not going to stop.

"That's seems cool." He said. I could see on her face that my sister was loving the attention he was giving and that she was getting more than me.

"It is. For our routine my group decided to do the instrumental version of the song radar by Britney Spears." She looked ready to start showing him her full routine right there at the table. Luckily both him and I were quick eaters so we had finished and I got up with my plate.

"We're going to go hang out in my room now." I said grabbing his plate and walking to the counter. I placed them on the counter and walked over to where he was standing and walked right out of the kitchen without giving anyone a second glance. The walk up the stairs was silent with only the noise of the stairs creaking underneath our feet. I opened my room door and thanked god that I had cleaned up and none of my clothes were on the floor. He looked around my room taking everything in since it was his first time. His eyes took in my bed and my closet and my bookshelf that was full. I could see him admiring my Harry Potter books. I sat down on the chair in the corner of my room. I had a bit of a reading corner going on with a couple of comfortable chairs all placed around my window and my bookcase. He sat down next to me and smiled.

"It's cute. I like how you have all your Harry Potter books in the middle of the bookcase surrounded by less colourful books so they pop a lot more." I smiled and walked over to my bookcase.

"If you like those wait until you see this." I pulled out my huge Harry Potter movie magic book. It was a book all about the characters and how they created the movies I was in love with it and I knew he would love it too. As I walked over to him with it in my hands I could see his eyes getting bigger. I placed it in his lap and he just stared at it not saying anything. He opened the book and began to flip through the pages.

"This is amazing. Where did you get this?" He asked looking at me briefly before turning back to the book.

"I got it for Christmas two years ago." I said reading over his shoulder even though I knew most of the things in the book by heart now.

"This is one of the best books of life. Can I borrow it so that I can read through it?" He asked looked at me with hopeful eyes. I gave in when he started to give me the smolder form Tangled.

"Fine! But you better be extra careful with it. It's my baby." I said.

"Thanks so much I will guard this book with my life." He turned back to the book just as my phone rang with a text message from Maya. It was a an urgent text telling me to call her.

"Sorry I need to call Maya. I'll just be in the hall for a couple minutes."

"Okay." He said not even looking up from the book. I walked into the hall and dialed her number. She picked up on the first ring.

"Okay well this isn't really an emergency but I just found out that in three weeks my family is going on a two week trip to Ohio to visit some of my second cousins I mean how boring of a trip is that."

"Oh no I'm going to miss you. Does that mean you're going to be gone until school starts again?" I asked not wanting to finish the summer without her.

"Yeah sadly my boring cousins will bore me while I dream about being here with you." I laughed but was really sad because she was best friend we did everything together.

"Okay well I have to go now Dalton is waiting for me." I said. As I hung up the phone I heard her yell bye. I walked back into my room to see him still sitting there with the book in his lap. I read with him until it was ten o'clock at night.

"I have to head home now." He said getting up from the chair.

"Alright, it was really fun having you over for dinner." I said walking him down the stairs.

"Tell your mom thanks for supper." He said before leaning down to kiss me. I was becoming a lot less awkward with him as the time went on but I could fell eyes on u as we kissed and it was pretty awkward even for me. He smiled then walked out the front door. I turned around and say my sister at the top of the stairs. She gave me an evil look before turning around and walking into her room. Something really weird was going on in my house. I shrugged it off and went to watch some television.
