Dalton and I had been dating for about a month by then. We had been getting along really well and have been hanging out almost every day. I decided it was time for him to officially meet my parents. I texted him as soon as I woke up which was at ten, to ask him about coming over for supper. I got up and went down the stairs for breakfast. No one was in the kitchen which was weird because everyone usually hung out in the kitchen. There was a note on the counter. It said that everyone had gone to my brothers hockey game that started at ten. They must have just left I thought as I got out the nutella. I spread a bunch of nutella on my bread and brought it up to my room. I turned on my radio and half danced half ate to the music. I was dancing around about to fall off my chair when my phone vibrated. I stumbled off but caught myself in the process of trying to get my phone. It was a text from Dalton agreeing to come to supper. I texted him back telling him to be at my house around four so that we could hang out a bit before.
Then demons came on the radio and it's one of my favourite songs so I began to dance around my room like a crazed fool. I didn't care if anyone was watching because I did really weird things in my room. I started to tidy things up in my room because it was a mess. I had tons of clothes on the floor and everything was just messy. My desk was barely visible under all the papers and my bedding was on the floor. I made so many messes I had no idea how most of them had happened in the first place. Surprisingly I was almost done within half an hour. I looked around my room and realized it would take way too long to clean it all up so I just fixed the obvious things. My desk was slightly visible my bedding was on my bed and there was no more clothes on my floor. I changed into my favourite jeans and a comfy shirt. I grabbed my phone and decided that to stay sane I had to leave the house. I threw on a pair of flip flops and ran out the door. It was hot but the wind made it a little cooler.
I just walked because I was so bored I didn't really have anywhere to go so I just walked. I thought about everything and anything. My relationship, my best friends, my laziness, food. So many things went through my head during that walk. I finally looked up and realized I had no idea where I was. I had to open Google maps and use it to get home. I realized I was about forty-five minutes from my house. I walked home and was bored and tired most of the way. I got home and it was going on twelve. My family was back from my brother's hockey game.
"Hey mom! I just went for a walk. How was the game?" I asked walking into the kitchen.
"It was good. Ethan's team won by two points." She said smiling proudly.
"Mom, I invited Dalton to dinner I hope that's okay." I said as I opened the fridge to get some food.
"Oh, yes that's fine. What should I make. Oh dear the house needs cleaning. What time is he coming over should I start cleaning now?" She asked really quickly.
"He's not coming over until four but it's okay you don't have to clean up." I said grabbing some juice before closing the fridge.
"I do, and you better get going on cleaning you room because it is a complete mess." She said sternly.
"Fine whatever." I said turning around and heading up to my room. I turned my radio back on and began to clean again. I found several things I had lost like a month ago. When my room was clean and when I say clean I mean spotless. Noting out of it's place and nothing on the floor and my desk was almost completely visible. By that time it was 3:30. It had taken me three hours to clean my room.
I was suddenly really nervous. I knew my family had already met him but I was worried about them liking. I liked him a lot but my family and I do not agree a lot. I had thirty minutes to calm down my crazy family and then try to prepare them for my boyfriend. I ran down the stairs and found my mom in the kitchen cooking looking like a stereotypical housewife. I tapped her on the back and she turned around with a slightly creepy smile on her face.
"Whoa mom overly smiley. Just be yourself. He's going to be here soon so don't get all weird like when Zoe brings boys over." I said causing her smile to be a lot less creepy. Whenever Zoe brings boys over my mom never stops asking questions and it gets awkward for them and they turn all red. It's fun to watch but I don't want it to happen to Dalton. My mom looked confused but turned back to the food tryiing to ignore me. I rolled my eyes and ran over to Ethan the antisocial of my family. He was on the computer but closed the screen when I got close. He was so secretive.
"Ethan, my boyfriend is coming over please don't jsut stare at him the whole time it freaks people out." I said. That's what he did it was kind of freaky when he did it to me and I was related to him. He just looked at me and nodded. I turned away and the doorbell rang. I hadn't gotten to my sister yet, she was going to flirt with him and I knew it. I ran to opne the door and swung it open to his smiling face. He hugged me and came in. I was smiling the whole time. I grabbed his hand and led him down into my basement which was our usual place to hang out. I plopped down onto the couch and he sat down right next to me. We started to talk and talked for what felt like hours when my mom yelled down the stairs that supper was ready. I grabbed hi hand. He squeezed it because he knew how nervous I was. I walked up the stairs preparing myslef for what lay ahead.
