Thace and Shiro made it back safely to the ship, an equal sigh of relief passing them both.

"That sure was a close one."

"Indeed it was. Come, I suggest we get ourselves off to bed, a fighter needs their sleep."

Shiro nodded, agreeing. He could use some sleep, not that it came easy to him, but he had been learning some methods in calming his mind and body so he hoped they could come in handy.

"Right. I'll see you in the morning, good night, Thace."

"Good night, Shiro." Thace replied, covering his mouth as he yawned. If it wasn't for Rolo emerging from his room, the Galra would have happily gone to bed and rest up for the night. He could see that Rolo looked troubled about something, and decided to investigate.

"You look troubled, Rolo. Is something on your mind?" he asked, his fatherly instincts getting the better of him.

"Ah, it's nothing, T." Rolo answered, not wishing to cause Thace any worry. "I was just gonna go out on the balcony, nothing like some good old fresh air to clear your lungs out, right?"

Thace smiled warmly, seeing that mentioning the outside made Rolo feel better.

"If you don't mind, I think i'll join you. I could use a chance to clear my thoughts."

"Sure thing. Come on, we can go this way. Tel and Nyma couldn't sleep because they were worried about you, but I think I was able to handled it. I told Tel you'd be okay. It's gonna take a lot more than a few scouting ships to scare a Galra."

"Hey, Rolo? I'm worried about Thace. Do you think he'll be okay?"

"You don't need to worry, baby girl. T's a strong guy, if anyone tries to pick a fight with him, he'll show 'em they've messed with the wrong person. You should get some sleep, i'm sure he'll be back soon."

Thinking about the princess made Rolo's heart skip a beat; just the thought of her lilting voice was enough to make his cheeks glow. Damn it, what the Hell was he even thinking? She was royalty, and he was a nobody who happened to fix things whenever they were broken. It could never work, it simply couldn't happen.

"Is something wrong, child?"

Rolo shook his head, lying.

"I'm fine."

"The sky is incredibly beautiful tonight, is it not? It's rare to see a sight such as this, especially now."

Stars shined brightly beyond the reach of Thace and Rolo, the scene bringing them peace even though they knew that the serenity would not last forever.

"You're right about that." Rolo agreed, his back leaning against the railings off the ship's lower balcony. "You know, during my bounty hunting days, i'd stay up for hours watching the stars whenever I could see them, thinking about what I could have been if I hadn't chosen such a shitty job."

Thace raised a brow, unsure of what the younger meant.

"You thought your job was 'shitty'?"

Rolo wasn't sure whether or not Thace was being serious, but nevertheless decided to assist in putting his apparent confusion to an end.

"You know, really, really bad." Rolo said, he didn't even want to think about the person he used to be, it was all in the past as far as he was concerned. "I'm just glad I don't do it anymore. This whole 'turning over a new leaf' thing was difficult for me at first, but now it's not so bad."

"Would you ever consider going back to your old ways?" Thace wondered, the distance catching his eye.

"No," Rolo replied quickly, not hesitating when giving his answer. "never. I don't want to go back to being the selfish guy I used to be, the one that only took but never gave anything in return. I wanna make things right, Nyma too."

"We all wish to make things right." Thace said, sighing. "My time as a soldier for the Galra Empire wasn't a happy one to say the least. I was under the command of a fellow fighter named Prorok, God how I hated that good for nothing rat. I heard about his plan in negotiating with you and Nyma, and believe me when I say I tried my best to talk him out of it. I thought as his 'friend' I could make him see sense, but he didn't listen to a single world I had to say."

"That's harsh." Rolo said, taking off his hat and running a hand through his slightly messed up white hair. "Listen, i'm sorry about what happened at dinner. I shouldn't have spoken to you like that and I...I don't know what came over me, I just had this sudden urge to lash out at someone and...i'm sorry you had to be the one that I snapped at."

Thace brought Rolo into a hug, his chin resting on the top of the teenager's head. Rolo didn't know how to respond at first, but found himself feeling better in the embrace of someone he could trust.

"Adolescence is a confusing age, child, an age where you're neither a child nor adult. I understand that confusion, I went through the very same thing when I was your age. But it'll be alright, even if it may not seem like it right now, things will become a lot clearer and you will begin to understand who you really are. You are still finding yourself and your true purpose in life, and although it may seem like you have found it, you still have much to learn."

Rolo never had a good upbringing, his parents were always too busy caring about themselves rather than their own flesh and blood, he knew it was the reason why he rebelled against them so much until eventually, he made up his mind and ran away with his best friend and cyber-unit, the three of them being known across the universe for their skills and overall manipulation.

He wasn't going to become like his parents, he wasn't going to become obsessed with himself and not care about the people around him. He cared for Telenum, Thace and Nyma as if they were his own family, a surrogate family who had given him the love and acceptance anyone with sanity could have wished for.

"I'll admit, it seems crazy to think that a member of the most feared race in the entire universe...is one of my best friends. I know I can always count on you, T, I know you'll always be there for me. My parents didn't care about me all that much, so you're the closest thing I have to a father now, and the girls are like sisters to me. Sometimes annoying, but amazing sisters."

Thace's hold grew a little tighter, but Rolo didn't mind it one bit. It took a lot more than just giving birth to a child to earn the title of mother or father, and to him, the Galra had earned the title of being the best father figure anyone could have asked for.

"I'm sorry to hear that, a parent should always put their child first no matter what, not carry out their selfish wants simply because they do not have the motivation to look after their flesh and blood. I promise, Rolo, I promise that I will always care about you. You will never be alone as long as I am here. I know that I may not be the best parental figure in the world, but I will always do my best to do right by you. And I know that you will do the same, my dear friend."

Thace's fur was comforting against Rolo's skin, almost like a warm blanket. Not once during his childhood did his parents give him a hug, but Thace was willing to give him all the hugs he wanted, even if there was no reason behind them. If he needed a hug, he knew he could count on his friend no matter what, because unlike his parents he actually cared.

"Words cannot describe how much I love you all; you will always be in my heart. You've given me hope and freedom, have helped me to become a better person and have made me realise that I can make my own decisions, thank you for making me see in such a positive way."

"Enough room for two more?" Nyma asked, stepping out onto the balcony alongside Telenum. Thace looked to them and nodded, welcoming them into such a loving gesture with open arms.

"I love you all so much, my children. My dear, sweet children."

Shiro watched the loving sight, humming warmly as the image of him reuniting with his friends came into mind, he could only hope that the bond between them would grow to be even stronger now that they had become separated, but he prayed that they were unharmed and back in the safety of Allura's castle.

Please be okay...please.
