He came back with two hamburgers wrapped in foil inside white cellophanes with the logo of a bowl of plate with two steam lines. Olamide watched him sit beside her and pass one to her. "I heard this burgers are good" he says softly.
She nodded even though she had never been to the airport before. When Shola was leaving Nigeria, she wasn't feeling too well and there was continuous rain falling hard to the earth. "Sweetheart, i think you need to stay in. I don't want you to get sicker than you already are." Mother said. She honestly didn't want to go and there was unhidden glee in Shola's eyes.
"Plane to Amsterdam.." She heard someone say. She was afraid but right now all she wanted to do was go.

Olamide's POV.
We were all seated including me and Bryan. My heart was racing as i stole glances at Shola who acted natural. I was scared. Really scared.

Wara brought in the appetizer. Fish pepper soup. The aroma made my tummy swirl but I'm not allowed to eat  till someone prays. I stare at my food and begin to drift.
What would happen if Shola did something stupid?
Why did i kiss him in my fathers house??
I felt like raising my hands to my head but my family was oblivious of my problems. I looked at Bryan who sat two seats away from me in the opposite direction. He didn't seem as bothered as i was. Why was everyone such a good actor except me?
The appetizer was served to everyone then mum sighed."so who's going to pray?"
We stared at each other in amusement but suddenly it turned to fear when..
"Ill pray" my grandmother said lightly. In simple words, we. Are.doomed!

"In Jesus name..we thank God for a brand new day. We thank God that we slept and woke up this morning. Nothing but for the grace of God. I pray you forgive our sins..."
She went on and on and i felt my hot soup begin to get cold.
"Mum..the soup will get cold.." My mum murmured to our hearing which caused a bit of amusement. My grandmother just smiled "in Jesus name i pray"
And we all chorused Amen. I began to drink my soup gracefully but honestly i really wanted to rush it all. That is impossible seeing the soup  was hot and spicy. There was silence and only spoons hitting the ceramics were heard.

"Ahhh my beautiful wife! This is why i married you. She doesn't only know book but she's beautiful and a great cook! Ah my iyawo!" my father exclaims. He was one of the most appreciative people of my mother.  My grandma made a remark once that the way he praised her drew my mom to him. I loved to hear my parents love story but it can get really... Mushy.

We all laughed and the whole room seemed to be happy. Everyone chatted in low tunes. Kayode sat down close to me. We spoke about random things.

"So do you have a boyfriend cousin?" He said teasing. My heart went to my throat. I USED TO.

"Not here Kayode" i whispered back.
Someone pinched my butt. Nike. This is what i get for sitting close to the trouble maker.

"Talk jor. Mumsi wont hear "
I chuckled nervously. Soon they left me alone. Nike asked for more pepper soup and Kayode was with his phone.
I let my mind drift again but this time to when i had met Bryan. He was a new student resuming from ss1. Girls in my class spoke about him. He was tall, built and dark toned. I hadn't seen him then and i felt any boy that good would as well be as bad.

Then i met him.

I had gone to the library to read and also take my mind off a lot of things. He sat opposite me. His cologne drove me to look up and when i did, i stared into the most captivating eyes. His eyes, a darker shade of brown. He wasn't smiling. He kept a straight face and i realised he wasn't looking at me, he was reading and as soon as i realised, i looked back my book but there was no use. All i thought about was his eyes. Then i went to return the book. As i turned to get my bag, his skin brushed mine and my skin triggered with an unfamiliar feeling. I didn't notice i increased my pace till i got to my class. I chuckle to myself. How silly I was!
