It used to burn

You were like a fire and I the wood
Your flames penetrated my splints in the most awkward places
The heat  felt like a lit sensation  that I succumbed...
To the  blazing passion that burned in those unimaginable places
Until the wind blew by and you   went with it
Until you left me for ashes
Ashes that flew apart and I was no longer whole
I became nothing but the after burn

Tell me how I can become more than just a piece of wood .
