Chapter 1

Zero's P.O.V~

It's been a month since Emiko came into our lives. She was just pure joy who runs around the house. There were good times when she had to stay with us and we play games. There were also bad times when we had to tell her about the death of her parents.

She also met Yagari-sensei and soon then Kaito. Yagari-sensei have already been a bit attached to her, surprisingly. Even more surprising is that Kaito is like a little bit nice to her. It seems like Emiko gives joy and kindness to everyone and makes us feel happy.

Ichiru and I were in my room that we now share since Emiko has to get her own room. We heard a knock on the door and then in came Emiko.

"Zero! Ichiru!" She exclaims as a greeting, "You wanna play with me?" Ichiru showed a smile.

"Sure we can!" Ichiru answers happily and Emiko face lightens up with joy.

"We can't," I stated sadly," We have to go train." Emiko's expressin changed and she frowns.

"What? Again?" She asked sadly. We then hear people talking and so the three of us went downstairs. As we did, we notice two people that arrives.

Emiko's P.O.V~

We all heard downstairs as we came to greet the vistiors.

One is an adult who has long, wavy, jet-black hair, blue eyes,(which one of them has an eye patch) and is often seen sporting a wide brimmed cowboy style hat with a cigarette hanging from his mouth. He seems tough and scary, but to me, he's very kind. That's Yagari-sensei.

The other is a boy. he's a lot taller and older than us and has messy, ash brown hair and hazel eyes. he can be very mean and rude, that's Kaito. I ran towards Yagari-sensei and hugs him as my head only reached to his stomach.

"Hi Yagari-sensei." I greeted happily. I felt his hand ruffled my now messy long black hair.

"Hey there shrimp." He greeted and I just playfully pouted. I look from behind Sensei and found Kaito standing by the open door, staring at me.

"Hi Kaito-kun." I greeted politely. He only scoffs and looks away. Zero and Ichiru comes and grabs their coats and puts them on.

"Let's get moving." Yagari stated as I pulled away from him. I frown at them leaving. Mom and Dad left on an assignment and now the boys are going out to train, leaving me alone in the house.

"Yagari-sensei," Ichiru called to him, "May Emi-chan come with us?" I look at Ichiru at his question as he gives me a small smile.

"Yeah," Zero added, "She'll be alone if we leave her here." Sensei sighed in stressed and just walked out.

"The shrimp can come." he stated. I smiled happily as I grabbed my coat and quickly put up my snow boots. We walk out the house and closed the door as we folllow Sensei and Kaito who's far ahead.

I sat on the ground as I watch the boys do their training. Sensei explains for them to use their daggers and aim for those wood dummies.

I decided to play in the snow by making little hills and writing words in the snow. I suddenly heard someone coughing uncontrollably and I look, finding it was Ichiru who's on his knees.

"Ichiru!" I call to him as I ran towards him and kneeled by his side. Zero came to check on him.

"I'll be fine," He choked, "So don't worry. " I frown as I pat his back as he coughed more.

"This is pathetic," Kaito stated, "How are you suppose to be a vampire hunter if you keep breaking down every minute?" I frown at his rude comment.

"Please don't say mean things, Kaito." I said defensively.

"Unless your going to anything about it," he says coldly, "Then shut your mouth, girly." Zero stands up and glares at him.

"Leave them alone, Kaito." He stated angerily and Kaito just glares.

"And what are you gunna do?" He asked rudely, "Your just as pathetic as your brother." I see Zero clenching his hand into a fist and runs at Kaito to throw a punch.

Kaito effortlessly dodges Zero's move and forcefully pushes him back, making Zero fall brutally to the ground. Kaito walks over to Zero with a scary look. Scared for the worse he might do, I ran to Zero and hovers over him, protecting him from Kaito, who looks at me surprised.

"Please Kaito! Just stop it!" I shouted. Yagari came by between us.

"Knock it off." He stated. Kaito sucks his teeth as he complies and walks away. Zero slowly sat up as I got off of him. Ichiru came by our side.

"Are you two alright?" I asked the twins.

"I'm fine." Zero says as he gets up. Ichiru helps me up and smiles as I smile back a bit.

"I think that's enough for today." Sensei stated as he sighed. Zero, Ichiru and I walk our way home as Sensei walk off to his own direction.

The boys walked as I walk along with them in between. I look over at Ichiru who looks ahead to our direction and Zero with a mad expression on his face. They both feel different after Kaito's comments. I walk ahead of the twins and stopped them as the look at me curiously.

"What's wrong, Emi-chan?" Ichiru asked.

"It's you two." I answered. The boys looked at me surprised.

"You two are not yourselves because of Kaito," I explained, "And I don't like it at all." They both showed a frown.

"We're sorry, Emi." Zero stated sadly and I only shook my head.

"Nope, that's not good enough." I stated. They look at me in,shock.

"They're only one way for me to accept the apology..." I contiued. The boys looked at me worriedly, but I slowly showed a smile.

"Is to help me bake sweet when we get home." The boys were surprised and look at each other for approval.

Without their answer, I grabbed both their hands and drag them along with me.

"Come on," I stated, "I can make you guys all kinds of sweets as long as you two help me." I notice Ichiru showed a smile and soon did Zero.

We walked home together and make the delicious sweets just as we planned.
