"I absolutely hate airports." I complained, readjusting my small duffel bag on my shoulder and trying to find a position that didn't feel like it was cutting through my skin.
"Because you hate goodbyes?" Dinah asked, turning around in line face me.
"No, I hate the smell and these lines." I said and Camila laughed. We both turned to look at each other briefly.
"Did I miss something?" Dinah narrowed her eyes, looking between us.
"I don't know," I shrugged. "Did you?"
Dinah stared me down for a couple seconds before I nodded my head, motioning that it was her turn in line. Once she turned around, Camila looked at me and I proceeded to wink.
"I'm not even bothered," I reassured her, leaving out the part where I would tell her that I didn't think it would be a big deal if Dinah knew.
Knew what, you ask? Great question. All I know is the last time I saw Camila was when she kissed me goodbye at her apartment. As soon as I found out I was missing almost a full week of school, I needed to get my shit together and catch up on school so I could even come on the trip. This resulted in only seeing her before or after practices.
All fifteen of us checked our bags and got our boarding passed with relative ease. It was nearing four in the morning, (the cheapest flight we could get), so the girls weren't too energetic but it also meant the airport was pretty empty.
"No causing trouble, no going past our terminal, no talking to strangers, no going anywhere that's no open, no buying alcohol," Dinah went on reading the list she made on her phone in her notes. Camila and I were practically cracking up which didn't show the united front we should've probably displayed.
"And as for these two idiots," Dinah grabbed me by the ear. "Do not look at them as an example, I'm spending this whole trip babysitting these two." Her comment earned a laugh from the entire team as I tried to escape from her hold. "Lauren, I have a million siblings, you're not going to win."
With that, we sent the girls off while the four of us looked for an open coffee shop. We spotted one after being disappointed by the Starbucks that was closed.
"It's so dead this early," Camila observed. "It's almost creepy."
"It is creepy, there's no noise and barely anyone. I just keep hearing random beeps coming from everywhere." I agreed.
"You should get that checked out, Lauren." Dinah joked, earning a pathetic excuse for a punch in the arm. "I have news! And a favour to ask." Dinah announced, her voice getting quieter at the last part.
"Shoot, CheeChee." I looked at the girls, amused by their banter.
"Mila, do you remember Trey from Texas?" Dinah asked and Camila nodded. "He's trying to make it with his boys in New Orleans now so, naturally, I messaged him and he wants to take me out."
"Dinah, that amazing! You're going to be dating a rapper!" Camila's excitement was evident and Dinah's face lit up as if Camila's reaction allowed her to be excited as well.
"With that being said, I know this is an asshole thing to ask, but he asked me out and I was wondering if could you guys cover for me tonight night?" Dinah asked carefully, looking between Camila and I.
"Are you kidding?" I asked. "You could disappear for two days and we'd cover for you."
"Lauren!" Dinah exclaimed. "You're the cutest, thank you guys." She wrapped an arm around my shoulder and pulled me in for a side hug.
