CHAPTER 13

I put up my best fakest, sweetest smile and take the rose from him, our fingers brushed and he blushed. Yuck! Is all I can say but in my mind, of course.

'Thanks' I say politely. He smiles.

Before he flies too high I burst his bubbles by adding that I need some time to think about being his valentine, but I am accepting the rose. He is little disappointed but then smiles sadly and leaves. I don't care what he feels, at least I have got my assignment done and a rose.

At lunch, I am hurrying towards the canteen, I dashed to someone. I look up and smile dreamily, I can't believe I dashed into Abhay, Abhay Singha. He looks at me alarmed for a while before breaking into a smile.

'You are Adnan's sister?' he asks with his eyebrows raised and I nod smiling silly.

'Al-Al-Aleesa' I stammer, Damn!

He smiles wider, 'I was looking for you, don't tell Adnan this' he says and takes out a rose from his jean's back pocket. My eyes widen.

OMG! OMG! I was floating on cloud nine on receiving my fourth rose by Abhay, the other roses are nothing compared to it. I come home with a bright smile, I didn't even notice Adnan was equally happy. I and Ruchi decided to meet in the evening in the compound park, enjoy the fresh air and chat, and also count the number of roses. I am sure I will be winning the competition with my 10 roses.

'Alu' I roll my eyes when I hear my brother call me, I knew he is happy because it then he calls me by my nickname.

He comes and hugs me light, I gasp as he lifts me slightly off my feet. 'I am so happy' he says happily as he twirls me around, I felt dizzy.

I requested him to place me down and only after few seconds he placed me down, I place my fingers on my temple. My surrounding spinning around me.

'I proposed Urooj and she accepted' he says jumping on his toes.

'How many did you propose?' I tease him, he frowns at me and I gulp.

'Only Urooj. I love her, for me no other girl matters...she is unlike any other girl I have seen... so beautiful....so...' he spends next ten minutes describing Urooj's qualities, I smile looking at my love stuck brother. Adnan goes to express that he realized his love for Urooj three years ago and is madly in love with her, he is on cloud nine after knowing Urooj reciprocates his love. I am more than happy for Adnan. I hugged my brother and congratulated him.

Ruchi is disappointed when I reveal to her that Adnan and Urooj are in love and secretly in a relationship.

'All handsome boys are taken' she sighs.

I shake my head; I take out the ten roses I got today. We begin counting our roses.

'Cha!' I exclaim disappointed. I have ten roses and Ruchi has eleven. Even Champu's rose didn't make me win. I looked at the rose he had given me (I had kept it separately) I throw it away from me.

'Just like you your rose too is useless' I say bitterly eyeing the rose which now lies lifelessly few distances away from us. Ruchi looks at it and then at me, silently asking me what is this? I narrate everything and Ruchi begins teasing me real bad, I had to scold her to get her to shut up. I shake my head 'Never mind him, here (I showed the rose Abhay had given, I had kept that separate too) guess who gave this to me?' I say grinning.

Ruchi gives random guesses, after few annoying guesses I interrupted her 'Abhay Singha' I say happily.

Ruchi looks at me, her mouth forming a big O 'Dude...he gave me a rose as well' she says. I look at my rose and suddenly I am not liking the rose. I then look up at Ruchi

'Jerk!' we say in unison
