The sounds of your footsteps vibrated off the floor as you walked through the Temple with Neji and Sakura on your trail. Naruto was nowhere to be seen and the monks in the temple had disappeared. Not a single soul in sight.
You had no idea where the Sacred Jewel was but you could feel it like a tug to your heart as you wandered the quiet halls, looking from room to room.
"This place is huge," Sakura said in awe, looking at the humongous dojos and equipments,"did you really train here!??"
"I guess," you said, feeling rather embarrassed," it wasn't all that great. It was just tons of mediation."
"Oh, stop being modest," she elbows your side and you feign hurt," you're probably even stronger than Neji now!"
Neji snorted and rolled his eyes at the idea, there was no one stronger than him in his head.
You laugh but your laugh came to halt when a giant explosion erupted through the Temple. The floor and the walls shook, to the point it began to crack and disassemble into chunks of stone. But that wasn't all. The broken chunks of stones had began floating in the air, as if gravity had lost its dimensional powers.
Neji and Sakura were able to concentrate their chakra to their foot to keep their balance but you felt yourself lose your footing and you had almost fell through the cracks when Neji grabbed your arm instinctively and pulled you close in his safety. You blushed and your face reddened even more at Sakura's obvious smirk.
"T-that must be where Naruto is," you grumbled, flustered and feeling suddenly shy. It wasn't like you to be shy about your feelings for the Huygens boy," we should go."
"Rightttttt," Sakura drawled, the smirk still tugging on her knowing lips as you guys traveled towards the combustion, jumping from stone to stone. The closer you got, the more the ground began to shake. So uncontrollably, you held on to the hem of Neji's shirt to keep your balance.
You guys entered a room without a ceiling. Above, you could see the galaxy of stars rearranging high above and floating in the middle of the room was a small red crystal with a radiation that shone so brightly its illumination could blind you.
Just across the room, you could see Naruto standing at the alter, his eyes fixated on the crystal. He was there but he wasn't, as though his spirit had left the room. As if he wasn't Naruto anymore, use a body without a life.
"Naruto?!?" You yelled across the room, hoping your voice would reach him. The sounds of rumbling all around muffled your voice. You didn't have much time, the place would fall apart soon, whatever happened before your friends had reached this room didn't matter. It only mattered if you all make it out now.
"Naruto!" You yelled again, this time letting of of Neji and jumping from one stone to the other.
"You idiot!" You heard Neji scream from behind you.
You almost felt your grip slip as you jumped, slamming into the next stepping soon, your breath knocked out of you.
"[name] wait for us!" Sakura screamed from somewhere behind you. You hauled yourself up with all of your energy and continued down your path until your reached your blonde companion.
You grabbed Naruto, pulling him away from the crystal.
"Wake up you knucklehead!" You said whilst shaking the poor boy back and forth violently.
As though, snapping out of a posssesion, Naruto pulled away from you, dazed.
"[name]?! What are you doing here?"
"We came to find you obviously."
"I was fighting someone and then...and then...I can't remember what happened afterwards," he knitted his brows, trying to think back on his battle," and then this thing shot out of the sky and altered the whole dimension of the temple. I walked up to it and it showed me something."
"What did it show you?"
Naruto blinked, his voice growing suddenly small and frail s he forced himself to answer you," it showed me your future."
"W-what?"
Another rumble.
He held on to you to keep you steady," this crystal is apart of you [name] and your siblings. You guys are all connected so if you destroy it....." he stopped, trying to find the right words to say," if you destroy it, you will set them free. But you will be destroying something too."
realization struck you.
Was this it?
Was this how it was suppose to end?
"It's okay," you whisper, shaking his grip on you off.
Acceptance.
"Whatever happens here on after, it's okay," you stepped away from Naruto, towards the crystal. Whatever happens, you will accept it.
"What? You don't want to know what's going to happen?"
You shook your head, a small smile forming on your lips," it's okay because in the end, I know I'm doing the right thing. So it's okay. "
"[name]."
You didn't even say goodbye, because you knew you would be seeing them again one day.
"[name], WAIT!" Naruto screamed as you grabbed the crystal with your bare hands.
"Naruto. Make sure you take care of Sakura and Neji while I'm gone."
You've lived your life without a purpose. Growing up, making friends, falling in love, living a normal life without a purpose because you thought, yes even for a while you wondered what was the point of living when you were going to die in a short amount of times anyways.
But you did have a purpose.
This was your purpose.
And you were fine with it.
For the first time in your life, you can make your own choice about your own destiny.
A white light casted throughtout the whole room with its electromagnetic waves. So bright, you couldn't see Naruto, or Neji, Or Sakura anymore. Just the figures of your brothers and your sisters smiling and running into the light.
Free.
But the light didn't last forever. The brightness soon became something else.
You screamed.
There is a darkness after.
An eternal darkness.
