The next night I grab the Animagus book, the ingredients to create the first potion, and the sack of food I had asked Fred and George to get me. They had asked why I needed it, of course, so I was forced to lie to them, saying that I was doing late night studying and I wanted to binge while I learned. They left me alone after I asked them if they wanted to join me.

The Shrieking Shak was silent. The only sound I could hear was the air rushing out from between my lips and the whine of the floorboards when I stepped on them.

"Snuffles!" I sang. "Food!"

Almost immediately, I heard padded feet run toward me. I smiled when I saw his giant black head come into view, a long pink tongue sticking out. Snuffles sniffed my bag and wagged his tail in an adorable way. I opened the bag wide and set it on the floor, so it could be a sort of plate for him. He tore at the food while I set all my stuff down next to him and opened my Animagus book carefully, loving the smell of new book.

"This potion is going to be fun," I told Snuffles. "Remember: do not eat my potion."

Snuffles gave a dog-like snort and gnawed on a chicken bone.

"Crushed Moonstone," I mumbled, going through my potion supplies. "I hope Snape won't give us a potion that needs Moonstone because this is my only one..."

The dogs head snapped up and he gawked at me in disbelief.

"What?" I asked. "About this being my only Moonstone? The list didn't say anything about Moonstone so I suspect I won't need it... and if I do, I can steal Harry's." Snuffles continued to stare. "What? Against stealing?"

He barked.

I barked back.

He began moping, sitting next to his torn up food with his head hanging low. I let him broad as I did my work in silence.

The potion had become a sizzling brown, that looked similar to coffee. Snuffles came closer, interested, as sparks began to fly from the cauldron. I put in the last bit of ingredients and stirred clockwise for ten minutes.

"Well," I said nervously, taking out a flask. "Let's hope the side affect isn't painful...."

I filled the flask and drank it all in one gulp. It didn't taste like anything, but it was very gooey, and it went down my throat slowly.

"Ew!" I took out my wand and pointed it at my mouth. "Aguamenti!"

A jet of water burst from the tip of my wand and flooded my mouth.

I coughed, pushing Snuffles away when he started to sniff my face worriedly. He barked so I patted his head to show him that I was fine. I didn't feel any different – and that was probably why I was smiling like a maniac.

My lips were stretched thin, the corners almost reaching my ears.
