It's been about a week or maybe two since that detention and since I've been under constant supervision.
"Come on Dad it's beautiful out" I complained.
"You're right; it is beautiful out. I bet bunches of people your age are out enjoying it," he said.
"Yes I bet so and I wish to join them," I said.
"No," he said.
"Dad I've been studying all morning my brain is fried," I said.
"Okay you and I will take a walk," he said.
"Thanks, Daddy your the best," I said as we went out to the corridors.
"Dad, what do you know about the Sorcerer's Stone?" I asked.
Suddenly he stopped.
"Why are you asking about that? More importantly, how do you know about it?" He asked.
"Never mind it doesn't matter," I said as I saw the trio walk out of McGonagall's classroom.
He gave me the look that said this conversation isn't done as we walked up behind them.
"And with Dumbledore gone" I heard Hermione say.
"Good afternoon," my father said.
The three turned and faced us.
"Now what would three young Gryffindors, such as yourselves be doing inside on a day like this?" My father asked.
"We were... we were just," Hermione said trying hard to think of something.
"You'd ought to be careful people will think you're up to something," he said as he walked away.
I stayed put for a second.
"Sam" my father called.
I looked at the trio before running to catch up with my dad.
After dinner, I studied some more.
"You know what I want to do next year Dad?" I asked.
"What's that?" He asked.
"Quidditch," I said with a smile.
"Oh yeah? What spot do you want to play?" He asked.
"Chaser," I said.
"You will be the best Slytherin chaser that our house has had in a while," he said.
"You think so?" I asked.
"Of course," he said.
"I'll practice this summer of course," I said.
"Good idea," he said.
I smiled and went back to my studies. Finals were tomorrow which is our last day of school.
"Another year has gone. And now as I understand it, the house cup needs awarding. And the points stand as thus: in fourth place, Gryffindor with 312 points. In third place, Hufflepuff with 352 points. In second place, Ravenclaws with 426 points. And in the first place, with 472 points, Slytherin house" Dumbledore said.
"First place," Draco and I said at the same time.
Our entire house was happy cheering and whatnot.
"Yes, yes. Well-done Slytherin. Well-done Slytherin. However recent events must be taken into account. I have a few last-minute points to award. To Miss. Hermione Granger, for the cool use of intellect when others were in grave peril. 50 points" Dumbledore said.
"Can he do that?" Goyle asked.
"He can do whatever he wants. That puts Gryffindor in third place," I said.
"Second to Mr. Ronald Weasley, for the best-played game of chess Hogwarts has seen in many years. 50 points" Dumbledore said.
"Still in third, they can't possibly beat us," Goyle said.
"And third to Mr. Harry Potter, for pure nerve and outstanding courage. I award the Gryffindor house 60 points" Dumbledore said.
"We are tied with Slytherin" I heard Hermione say.
"Want to try again?" I asked Goyle.
"And finally, it takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to your enemies. But a great deal more to stand up to your friends. I award 10 points to Neville Longbottom. Assuming my calculations are correct I believe that a change of decorations is in order. Gryffindor wins the house cup!" Dumbledore said.
"Yes!" Hagrid yelled.
As the Gryffindors threw their hats up because they won. I crossed my arms and Draco slammed his hat down.
After the fest, we went to our dorms or common room rather. I sat in the common room and waited for Draco to pack.
"Ready?" Draco said as he walked down dragging his stuff behind him.
"Yeah," I said as we headed out to the train.
