DEAN'S POV
"This is how it works. You will repeat this words and cut your hand to draw some blood with this knife. Then, drip your blood into this bowl. Once the fire dies, drink the content. Am I clear? " I nodded with an unamused expression.
This is it, Dean. You're on your own now.
I followed the steps Death told me to follow and fell into a deep sleep.
*three months later*
Another day, another soul. I've been getting good at it. Reaping. The emotions that I've had in the past had vanished as time took place. He dies, guide him. She dies, guide her. That's it. It's not as sad as anyone would think it is. I mean, of course there are the faces of love ones weeping and bawling their eyes out but I've learnt that just like how time removed my emotions, it will remove their pain.
This one was a child. A newborn. I was a bad miscarriage. The mother of the child was crying to the point where she looked like she lacked oxygen. Cheeks puffy and stained with tears. The father tried his levels best to keep his tears in but a few escaped his eyes as he rubbed his wife's back comfortingly.
I held the little boy's soul in my arms and was about to guide him into the light but stopped when I heard a few words of exchange between man and wife.
"He was our little Castiel. My baby was supposed to be a happy little boy with everything in the world. With everything at his feet. Oh, Castiel, the angel whose name my baby possessed, why didn't you save him?" The woman asked to no one in particular.
"Our little Castiel will always be with us, Marie. The angel Castiel will protect ours." With that, dad sobbed into his hands.
I looked down into my arms, shocked at what I saw. A sleeping child who was supposed to be someone else's Cas. I lost mine months ago and now someone else has, too.
I walked into the hq which was a tall skyscraper disguised as a telephone company office. I walked over to the recreation room and took my place on a sofa, far back of the dark room. Reapers alike were enjoying their break while playing snooker and sitting at the bar.
It was an awesome job to be in but ever since I joined the reapers, everyone were on their guard. I was the world's best hunter. Just imagine me turning on them. That wouldn't be a pretty scene now would it?
Just as I sat down, memories flooded back into my mind. It went from Sammy to Cas. I miss them both so bloody much. I never thought about them in a while now but ever since this morning with the reaping of the little child, a sliver of emotions made their way back to me.
I wonder what they're doing right now?
As thoughts of what they may be doing flood my mind, I heard the call. It's basically song that plays when you're needed to reap another soul. This song was mine.
Carry on my wayward son,
There'll be peace when you are done.
Lay your weary head to rest,
Don't you cry no more.
Sigh.
I was kinda thankful for that although it just shortened my break hours because I'll never see my brother and my best friend ever so what the point thinking about them?
Little did I know that I was wrong.
A/N: Y'all can probably tell that my chapters are short but this story was intended to be a one shot so yeah. Just saying this is kind of a short story. Thanks!!! Oh, and please vote and comment. Love you guys.
Please be patient with my updates in the future cause I have a big test this year but I'll try to update as much as I can.
