Two Of A Difference

Jack!

The vampire's fist connected with Veronica's, the sheer force was enough to send them both to opposite sides of the room.

The vampire slowly stood up whilst cracking his neck. "Is that all you got?" He asked in a bored tone. He looked down to see Veronica still on the ground; clearly not taking her or the fight seriously. "I'm just getting started" Veronica snarled as she snapped her shoulder back in to place.

The vampire sped towards Veronica, fist aimed at her gut but she grabbed his fist and crushed his knuckles before shoving him away so she can see if Jack is okay.

The vampire began to chuckle as he watched her attempt to reach her brother. All of a sudden Veronica felt a sharp pain go through her left leg, sending her to the ground. She looked down at her injured leg to see a sharp piece of wood protruding from her skin. She starts howled in pain as the timber pierced further into her skin.

Jack looked up but his vision had became blurry. He was getting weaker. He could make out shapes in his field of vision; his sister was on the floor, the area around her was red and a larger shape seemed to be steadily coming closer.

Veronica looks up to see the man and the arrow in his hand. Breathing heavily she asked him "what is that?"

She tried to keep her cool but the tears in her eyes gave away her true emotions. She was scared and helpless against him.

She looked over at her step brother one more time but he wasn't there... she turned back to the vampire. Noticing Jack behind him, claws poised and ready to strike. Veronica slowly began to smile; her weakened brother was trying to save her.

"Did you really think I wouldn't notice you?" he smirked as flipped the arrow and stabbed jack in the chest; all in one fluid movement. "Jack!" Veronica screamed as white hot tears streamed down her cheeks.

The vampire turned around to look at Jack and mocked him as he gasped on the floor. "I can't believe you thought that was going to work!" He laughed.

Jack lifted his head up weakly. "I know I can't beat you... but she can" the vampire tilted his head in confusion.

"what do you mean?"

"Turn around" Jack muttered, a small smile plastered on his face.

The vampire hesitantly listens to Jack and turns around. Only to come face-to-face with Veronica. He stands there in complete shock at the feeling of Veronica's claws piercing his stomach. "Burn in hell, bloodsucker" She whispered as she twisted her hand into his stomach before pulling them back out, blood staining the skin.

Veronica runs over to jack quickly with fresh tears forming in her eyes. "J-Jack... we did it" she said trying to put a smile on her face.

Jack replied softly "no... you did it Veronica" he said as one tear came down his face.

"I-I love you Veronica..." Jack whispered as he began to drift off. "I-I- love you too Jack" Veronica said as she rested her head against jacks chest.

"One more thing Veronica" he weakly said.

"what? What is it?" She said trying to stop crying.

"Don't ever stop fighting an-" Jack stopped suddenly.

"And what?" Veronica quickly asked as she began to cry again.

"No... no don't leave. I love yo-" Jack's hand slowly falls from Veronica's grasp.

Veronica looks at Jack's once crystal blue eyes and slowly shuts his eyes, covering the now lifeless orbs.

"I'm sorry I couldn't save you Jack..." Veronica whispers as the tears began to fall down her cheeks...

She was brought out of her sadness by a sudden sound of movement and decided to go after it....
