Hayley's POV

We arrive at the dance and walk towards the cafeteria where the music is. I walk though the crowd and see Jerome, Mitch, Mat (forgot to say, he goes to the same high school :3) and Perry, a guy on the soccer team who is another close friend of mine.

"I want to go say hi to Jerome and Perry but..." I trailed off.

"I'll go with you. Okay?" Sierra says

I brace myself for Mitch and Mat, and what Mat might say or do. "Lets go."

I walk over towards the guys and smile. "Hey Jerome!" I say hugging him "Hey Perry!"

"What's up Cherry?" I rolled my eyes at my nickname and hugged him. Perry gave me that name from my obsession with cherries. He's the only one who called me that.

"Hi Mitch, Mat." I waved at them and received waves back.

"You look...astonishing, Kayla design it?" Perry asks gesturing at my dress.

I blush at his response, realizing Mitch still there, I try to stop and answer. "Thank you, you look great too, and yes, she is an amazing designer."

"Hayley, I hope you don't mind, but can I talk to you alone for a quick second?" Mat asked.

"Um, yeah sure." I walk out of the cafeteria and sit in the courtyard.

"What is it?"

"I want to apologize for my behavior towards you. All I want is a friendship from you and nothing more. I feel really bad."

"It's fine Mat, apology accepted."

He opens his arms for me to hug him, which I accept and hug him back.

"I'm going to go inside, you coming?" he asks

"Nah I'm gonna sit out here for a few."

"Alright." Mat leaves the courtyard and Perry walks in.

"Hiya! So I heard from some people that you and Mitch are together?"

"WERE together."

"Oh I'm sorry."

"It's fine. I'm over him." I sorta lied, the wound was still open.

"Then you wouldn't mind me asking you to a slow dance?"

"I can't dance."

"Nor can I, come on. I'll be slow."

I giggle. Perry is an attractive guy, dark brown hair and deep ocean blue eyes. "Sure, lets go."

He guides me back inside and into the cafeteria and a slow song is playing (just think of your favorite slow song, or play it while reading this)

I wrap my arms around his neck and his hands on my sides.

"See? Not so hard."

"I guess not."

We dance for a while until he leans in and kisses me. I hesitate but kiss him back.

It didn't feel right.

It felt wrong.

It felt horrible.

The way his lips moved with mine wasn't right.

I let go and see Mitch's eyes lock with mine.

I felt the break in his heart.
