We can NEVER be Together

Chapter Eleven

Winter Break

Its the first day of our two week break and I wake up early, which is a rare occasion. I turn over and try to go back to sleep but my phone vibrates, Dad texted me.

Dad: Come to the living room and bring Alex with you.

I groan and procrastinate by scrolling through a few other things on my phone before getting out of bed. I walk to the bathroom and open my door. Alex's door is almost always open, she's still sleep. I like to mess with her from time to time so I run and jump on top of her. Alex jumps up and relaxes when she realizes its me.

"Oh my god, Toby!" Alex groans.

She's been calling me Toby for a while and I kinda like it. But only when she calls me it.

"Get the fuck up Lex, we have to go to the living room." I say.

Alex pushes me off of her and gets out the bed. She sleeps in the same attire I do, sports bra and underwear. I'm currently still in my boxers and she has on these black lacey Victoria Secret underwear. I clear my throat and walk into the bathroom. I wash my face then brush my teeth before going to my room and putting on a random pair of sweatpants and a tee-shirt. I look in Alex's room and she has clothes on. We both walk downstairs to the living room together. Dad and Pam are sitting in the loveseat cuddled up to each other.

"What do you want?" I ask.

I sit down on the same couch with Alex. We've actually gotten a lot closer these past few months. Alex lays on my shoulder and I wrap my arm around her. Servando is on the couch across from us.

"So we decided to go on vacation since this is are first Christmas together." Pam says.

"Where are we going?" Servando asks.

"To a ski resort in Colorado." Dad says.

"Cool." Alex says.

"Yeah, it should be fun." Servando says.

"Cool, I'm hungry." I say.

I nudge Alex off of me and walk into the kitchen. Alex and Servando follow behind me. Servando and I have been on better terms. Not only that but he's not being an asshole at school anymore which is a plus. The three of us look through the kitchen and find nothing to eat. We haven't been food shopping yet, we are all usually at school and work all day. So the only thing we have to worry about is dinner, they serve breakfast at our school.

"Can you give us the car and your credit card so we can go shopping for food?" Servando asks.

"Alright but don't go overboard." Pam says.

We all smile and go to our rooms. As we're walking away we hear my dad yell.

"There's a hundred and fifty dollar limit!"

We all throw on some clothes and meet by the door. Once we are all there we take Pam's car and go to the store. Servando drives and Alex and I sit in the back.

"Are we buying breakfast or do you guys want to stop somewhere?" Servando asks.

"Dunkin." Alex and I say.

"I should have known." Servando mumbles.

We just laugh and pull out our phones. I have a few unread messages that I start going through.

Babe 💕 What are your plans for this break?

Me: I'm going to Colorado with my family.

Babe 💕 Nice, have fun.

Me: I will but I'll miss you...

Babe 💕 I'll miss you too...

I switch conversations.

Hope: Now why do I have to hear things from other people?!

Me: Damn wtf did I do?!

Ash: I'm with Hope, you didn't tell us you are leaving for break.

Me: I didn't even find out an hour ago, calm down. How did you even find out?

"What do you guys want?" Servando asks.

I look up and see we're in the drive thru at Dunkin Donuts.

"Plain bagel toasted with plain cream cheese, strawberry frosted donut with sprinkles, and an apple juice." I say.

Alex and Servando order and we get our food pretty quick.

Hope: Alex told Carli

Ash: Alex told Ali

Me: And I'm guessing they told you...

Hope: I mean we're their girlfriends so yeah.

We pull up in the parking lot and get out the car.

"Alright, I'll do dinner, Alex you do lunch, and Tobin you do breakfast. When we are done we'll meet right here." Servando says.

We agree and get our own carts and break off. This actually makes shopping easier than the three of us getting everything together. We've been living together for a few months now so we know what each other likes. When I'm done with breakfast I go to the place we are meeting at. I see Alex and Servando are waiting for me. We all check out together and we stay under the budget by fifty dollars. So we go to the dollar tree and pick up a few snacks for tonight. When we get home Pam and Dad come out and help us bring in the groceries. When everything is away we grab the snacks and go down to the basement. Servando has turned this into a kind of bachelor pad, but I'm not complaining. Alex and I lay on the couch while Servando gets on the other couch. We all agree to watch Olympus Has Fallen and decide to have a movie marathon day. Times like this makes everything I went through worth it. Once Olympus Has Fallen ends Servando gets up and puts in Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters.

"I know that I was a huge asshole to you in the past. But I'm really happy you and your dad are here. I haven't seen my mom this happy in a long time." Servando says.

"I know what you mean. The last time my dad was this happy, was when my mom was alive." I say.

"So, no hard feelings?" Servando asks.

I smile and stand up, he walks over and pulls me in for a hug.

"Aw, cute sibling moment!" Alex squeals.

I look at Alex and see her with her phone out.

"Are you recording this?" I ask.

"Yup, say hi to Snapchat." Alex says.

I let go of Servando and run and jump on top of Alex. She yells and Servando laughs. I tick Alex until I get tired and lay next to her.

"I'm going to have to get use to having two sisters." Servando says.

He presses play and lays back in his spot.

"And I'm going to have to get use to having an older brother." I respond.

This is how it's suppose to be. I mean yeah, siblings fight but we still love and are there for each other.
