Ivory was sat in the sleigh; she and her mother were waiting for one of the dwarfs to bring Edmund into the room. Ivory was still very sad about what she had done to poor Mr. Tumnus, but she could show no emotion to it in front of her mother. When the doors to the statue room opened Ivory turned her head to see that Edmund had finally been brought in. Jadis stood in the sleigh watching Edmund as he looked around the statue room his eyes landing on the faun who had been held prisoner right next door to him. Ivory watched as Edmunds' eyes grew wide in fear. "When you're ready, son of Adam," Jadis said.
Edmund turned to look at Ivory who turned her head away from him ashamed of what she had done to Mr. Tumnus. The dwarf pushed Edmund forward guiding him into the sleigh and sitting him at the feet of Jadis and Ivory. Jadis took her seat and the dwarf sat at the front of the sleigh guiding it to move.
As they moved out of the castle Ivory kept her eyes on Edmund, she could tell the boy was cold. Unlike Ivory and her mother who were used to the cold Edmund was warm skinned. The sleigh moved fast, the cold wind brushing strands of Ivory's blonde hair back, she could see Edmund had begun to shiver a bit more and wished she could warm him up, but Ivory knew her mother would never allow it.
The sounds of the wolves howl perked Ivory's ears as the sleigh moved over the iced river. Edmund looked up at Ivory who had been looking at him until then. She turned her head away quickly not daring to look him in the eyes. "Seems your little family was found," Jadis said looking down at Edmund.
...
"We found the humans, your Majesty," Maugrim said, his head was bowed low. "They got away when the ice melted. There was a fox, we believe he aided them."
"Then what are you doing here?" Jadis asked stepping out of the sleigh. "Look for him and bring him to me." Maugrim nodded his head and he and pack had left to do as they had been told. "The ice is melting." She said. "Ivory grab Edmund we'll have a look at that waterfall."
When they got to the river Ivory kept her hand in Edmunds her stomach feeling a tingle. She gave it a squeeze in hopes that Edmund would understand that she was there for him even if it did not look like it. Ivory watched as her mother looked over the river, the sight of the waterfall unfrozen and going at a quick rate. Ivory turned to look at Edmund who seemed to be wondering if his family had made it out of the stream alright.
"It's so warm out." The dwarf said making a move to remove his coat. Jadis turned to look at him with a look of disapproval. "I'll go and check the sleigh." The dwarf said putting his coat back on and walking away.
Ivory turned to look at Edmund who had a smile on his face, Ivory smiled right back at him. "Your majesty." It was Maugrim. Another wolf beside him had a Fox in his mouth. "We found the traitor; he was rallying your enemies through the Sherwin woods." He said as his companion threw the fox onto the ground.
It let out a cry as it stood back up. "Ah, how nice of you to drop in. You were so helpful to my wolves, perhaps you can help me now." Ivory looked as her mother took a stance with one hand on her hip the other gripping onto her wand.
"Forgive me, your majesty." The Fox said.
"Oh, don't waste my time with flattery," Jadis said
"Not to seem rude," the Fox said, a sly smile on his face. "But I wasn't actually talking to you." The Fox turned to look at Edmund. Ivory and her mother did as well, the girl knew her mother would not like what the Fox had just said and hoped that Edmund would not have to pay for it.
Jadis stepped forward, the wand in her hand now pointed at the Fox. "Where are the humans headed?" She asked.
The Fox stepped back as Jadis readied to attack him. "Wait!" Edmund cried out stepping in front of the Fox letting go of Ivory's hand. "No, don't." Jadis put her wand down. "The beavers said something about the Stone Table. That Aslan had an army there."
Ivory and Jadis looked at each other, the woman then turning back to Edmund. "An army." She said. Edmund and Ivory both looked at the Fox who was shaking his head in disappointment at Edmund bowing his head. "Thank you, Edmund. I'm glad this creature got to see some honesty." Jadis said with a smile as Edmund moved to stand beside Ivory. "Before he dies." Jadis' hand moved fast, the tip of the want touching the fox's chest a blue light flowed and the Fox let out a shriek as he began to turn to stone.
"No!" Edmund cried turning to look at Jadis.
Jadis turned to look at the young boy, switching her wand to the other hand she swung her arm back, the back of her hand slapping Edmund in the face. The sound was harsh, the sting was obvious.
Edmund held onto his cheek; it was obvious the boy wanted to cry but couldn't. Jadis turned Edmund back to look at her. "Think about who's side you're on, Edmund. Mine," she grabbed Edmund by the cheeks turning his face so that he could look at the Fox. "Or theirs."
Jadis let go of Edmunds' face and stepped forward to talk to her wolves. "Go on ahead, if it's a war Aslan wants," Jadis put her wand up the point hitting a butterfly that fell on the ground now turned to stone. "It's a war he shall get." Ivory looked over at Edmund who now had tears in his eyes.
