20. You came back.

Loki had gone back to Asgard. He didn't say why he was going so suddenly, or how long he would be gone for, just that he would come back.

He had been gone for almost seven months.

The first week after he departed you had stayed busy, hoping that would pass time faster and one day you would come home from work and he would be sitting on the couch reading. He never was. You even went to Avengers Tower to see if Thor knew anything but he too had gone back home to Asgard.

When he had been gone for two months you started worrying that maybe he would never come back. What if something had happened to him? What if he was dead? That night you curled up in bed, put on Game of Thrones, drank two bottles of wine and passed out hours later on his side of the bed.

By the time the seventh month arrived you had basically completely given up, you figured that he had left you or something horrible had happened to him. After a particularly tiring day at work, you came home and settled into hot bath. You had your eyes closed, head leaning back against the tub and stress practically melting off of your shoulders. You were completely oblivious to the door handle turning.

The door closing rather loudly was what made your eyes shoot open, head flying over to the door where your intruder stood, his lips curling up into a smile. Tears instantly stung your eyes as the man your heart had been missing for months was walking closer to you. "My Queen, why do you cry, I have returned to you." The only response he got was a wet hand slapping his face before your arms wrapped around his neck pulling him into a hug and burying your face into his chest, "You came back! I thought you were dead! I thought I would never see you again!"

Cold hands held your face as you pulled away. "Look at me and listen, I will come back to you always. Always. Never doubt that."

You both pulled the other closer again, you dripping water on the floor, leaning over the edge of the bath at a weird angle but not really caring. Your love was back in your arms.
