Riley’s POV:

My eyes flutter open. It was still a little dark outside, the ominous trees forming black shadows across the wet lawn. The sun was beginning to rise, casting golden rays among the trees and grass. Birds chirp, singing the song of the morning. One stupid bird would not shut up.

I am lying on my side, with Peter’s delicate arm holding me tightly around my waist, pulling me close to him. I could feel the beating of his heart against my back, keeping a steady rhythm. It was so comforting.

I turn around to face Peter. His eyes are wide open, his glistening emerald eyes staring at me compassionately.

“Have I gained your trust yet?” He asks, his voice rough and scratchy.

“Well no, duh.” I say using, well, the ‘no duh’ tone.

We both lean in and smash our lips together affectionately, working in perfect sync with each other, taking slight breathes in between. We pull away and giggle, both sitting up now, our clothes sticking to our backs from the moisture from the dew.

Last night was perfect. Peter taught me all the fundamentals of magic, and said that he would tutor me more elaborate spells later. And, it’s official: we are a couple now!

Peter’s POV:

I’m so delighted to call her my girlfriend. She really is perfect.

We start walking back to the camp.

“So, how are we going to tell the Lost Boys?” Riley asks inquiringly.

“I’ll just straight up tell them. Don’t worry, love,” I reply reassuringly, “So, I take it you won’t be leaving Neverland for a while, then?”

“Pfft, of course not. I would never leave you.” She says, giving me a light peck on the cheek.

“I’m so glad to hear that.”

We join our hands, swaying them a bit like cute couples do. Oh wait…

“So, Peter, what’s your favorite color? We should probably get to know each other a bit.” She says awkwardly, trying to fill the silence.

“Green, obviously. You?”

“Turquoise and coral.”

“Can’t decide on one?”

“Nope,” she says, chuckling to herself, “Ummmm…favorite animal?”

“Agh, that’s a hard one,” I reply, smirking, “How about the cheetah. I admire its speed and agility. How graceful, yet sly it is.”

“Mine would probably be the dolphin. It seems so free out there. And how it always seems so happy and playful, so adventurous, so beautiful.”

“Wow, did you just describe yourself?” I tease.

She blushes, her cheeks turning the color of her hair.

We approach the campsite, and walk out of the forest to see the Lost Boys sitting around the fire, cooking some left over meat from yesterday’s hunting trip.  I call them all together to tell them the news.

“Well, boys,” I say, “Sorry about not being here this morning. But I have an announcement.”

I stare at Riley. She smiles, and nods for approval.

“Riley is now an official member of our group. And, well, she’s my girlfriend.”

Everyone stares at Riley in utter astonishment.

“You are going to treat her well. And if I find out any of you have harmed her in any way, well,” I continue, staring deep into their souls demandingly, “You’ll be sorry.”

Everyone starts to applaud and cheer, whooping and hollering like they do when they get motivated.

Riley looks over to me frowning.

"Why did you threaten them like that? You saw how they all changed their minds after you did. I want them to like me for who I really am." She says, saddened by my action.

"Sorry, love. But if anything were to happen to you I don't know what I would do with myself. I love you."

"I love you too, Peter. I just don't want you to hurt anyone, that's all. Promise me you won’t hurt anyone?"

“I promise.” I bluff. If anyone harms Riley, they will be paying for it. And the result would not be pretty.
