The clang of a bell signalled another text from Koru. Aiko didn't dare look up a second from her handheld, but instead kept mashing away at the buttons - almost furiously. Koru on the other hand, lay in a mess of his bedroom, silently staring at the ceiling light. It made him squint, and a tear wrestled it's way out onto his cheek, travelling down his face.
He was broken.
A mess.
Trash.
She was stubborn.
A rock.
Solid.
Once she made up her mind, it was almost impossible to change it - no matter what. The only match for her stubbornness was his determination: but soon with time, it'll fade too.
Koru wasn't really the perfect person - there was too many mistakes, too many clumsy slips of the tongue and times of spacing out, but that didn't stop Aiko from making him feel absolutely horrible for it. It's too late, Koru thought, there's no reason for her to change her mind.
Change.
If only it were so easy - to just put it right behind you and forget all about it.
He did.
She couldn't.
And that's all there was to it, Koru thought, right?
No, it's more than that, Aiko replied in mind. Something that can never be repaired in my mind.
Koru shuffled in his bed, looking away from the light. He knew it wouldn't be enough to beg, or to ask forgiveness, or to promise change - then what, he asked? What is ever good enough? No, it wasn't just him - it was the two of them: Aiko and Koru.
They needed to reset,
To clean a slate,
To wipe away the dirt,
Try again.
Right now, all of it is just...Stuck in the mud.
There's only one way out, but for two souls divided, it may become a miracle.
Or stay a curse.
Which one do you pick? Aiko? Koru?
Which one...
Which...
