Chapter 2

Wednesday, 11th September

Dear Diary,

How long has it been? When was the last time I wrote in you? Probably when I had teenage problems with boys and the latest trends. You must be wandering why I turned to you now, well the thing is, it's hard losing all of your family. Kristinas' dead. She was supposedly hit by a car. I don't believe that for one second. She had an injury that didn't make sense to me at all, the wound to her epigastric.

------- Flashback -------

" Allison, you have a phone call from somebody." Lily the secretary told me, walking into my office

" Do I? From who?" I frowned, "I don't get phone calls from people."

" I'm not sure but their calling on behalf of Kristina." she answered quickly

Hearing that I jumped up from my chair and raced to the telephone. You can never be miss a phone call that come from Kristina or in behalf of her. She was the badass sister and you'd never know what she got into. Running in heels was the worst thing possible yet I managed that very quickly. Grabbed the phone and answered:

" Yes?"

" Hello, is this Allison Serafino, the sister of Kristina Serafino?" asked the voice

" Yes, that's me." I answered

" I am Carl Morris, from St. Louis hospital. I was the surgeon of Kristina after her accident. I'm really sorry to say but, she's dead." said this Carl Morris

Once that was said, the whole room was spinning and I was about to fall down. I grabbed onto the edge of the desk holding onto it with dear life. A few minutes later the dizziness went away and was running as fast as my legs could carry me to Lalia’s car.

I got into the drivers seat and started the engine. I probably shouldn't be doing this since I don't have a drivers license here in the US. I had an old one that I used when I was still studying and living in Britain. Stepping on the gas I raced to the hospital probably going over the speed limit more than usual. The drive to the hospital was about 20 minutes, when I got there I jumped out of the car and raced into the hospital lobby.

" Hi, I'm Allison Serafino. I got called about half an hour ago about my sister." I said frantically to and older nurse that was sitting at the reception behind a computer.

" What's your sisters name, dear?" she asked warmly.

" Kristina Serafino." She typed the name into the system and looked at me with sorrow.

" I'm sorry for your loss. I'll call Dr. Morris right away. You may take a seat in the waiting room." Penny, as now I saw on her name tag, told me pointing her hand in one direction.

I wasn't sure how long I was waiting here but it seemed like hours. Many thoughts where rushing through my head. What was Kristina doing up during day? How did she die? What happened? I didn't hear my name being told until I saw a shadow over me. I looked up and saw a doctor in his late thirties. He was rather good looking, with pale skin and dark brown hair that was messy on his head and bright blue eyes. I would have checked him out in any other situation, but not this one.

" I take it you're Allison.' Dr. Morris said

" Yea, thats me." I answered briefly

" How about we go to my office. I think we could talk better there." he said and I just nodded.

We walked together to Dr. Morris' office. When we walked in it looked like a  normal doctors office, there was a desk with a laptop on it, a chair behind the desk, lots of cabinets and one of those exam beds. The doctor motioned me to sit on an uncomfortable looking chair that felt rather squishy. Once he was also seated, he took out a file.

" In here, are every one of Kristina's injuries. With the death certificate and bills." the doctor started, taking out a highlighter, " I don't think the minor injuries ones are that important for you to know now, so I'll highlight the main ones."

" Ok. What are the main ones? What caused her death?"

" Kristina had 7 broken ribs that would have pierced her lungs if she wasn't brought on time, she had a wound on her epigastric and internal bleeding. The last one caused her death. We weren't able to stop that." said Dr. Morris, I frowned, why would Kristina have a wound on her epigastric? It seems awfully peculiar for a car accident

" What are the minor injuries then?" I asked

" Just some sprains, bruising, broken limbs and obviously a lot of scratches. The worst ones are by her neck and face." he answered, the last part bluntly

" Is that all? What happens now? What about the driver?"

" Those are all the injuries. As to what happens with the driver, that's up to you since you're the only living relative." the doctor said, " The poor guy's taking this very badly. Blames himself, you know?"

I spend my time in the hospital for about another hour or more. The driver was in hysterics when I came to talk to him. Thought I'd give him hell, I don't blame the little fella. I'd be stricken of I hit somebody with a car.

I knew I needed some time away from work so I went home and decided to ring up the office another day. A happier day perhaps. When I hit my pillow, I bawled my eyes out. Kristina was my sister and I loved her very much.

------- End of Flashback -------

I got over the loss of my parents with the help of Kristina. It was hard for her as well but she kept up the role of the fierce, brave older sister. I'm not sure how I will get over Kristina's death or if I ever will. I sure al hell will miss Kristina. Who wouldn't? She was the best, funniest and awesomest person I ever knew. As well as fierce, brave, majestic, petty. I think you understand the point. Kristina will be missed.

I shut my diary. Today was hell of a day. I spend the evening crying and stuffing my face with Ice Cream. Tomorrow I still have to go to work, though I'll ditch it. Maybe I should go to Europe or something. But calling Lalia was top priority tomorrow. We're best friends and can make it through anything together.
