Chapter 3
I woke up from the peacefullest dream ever. Tonight I had no nightmare, no dreams with Marius. It was just me in a meadow. Laying and enjoying the nice warm sun. Waking up was horrible. Made me remember why I was in bed in the first place. It made my heart clench.
Glancing at the alarm clock next to me, I saw it was 10:37 already. Lalia would be at work already and wondering where I was. I rolled out of bed and put on a blanket that has sleeves on it. Kristina gave it to me as a present when she came back from her trip to Spain.
Descending down the stairs like a sack of potatoes, I suddenly remembered that I would have to inform everyone of Kristina's death. First things first, I made myself a steaming cup of coffee. Grabbing the phone of the living room table, I dialed Lalia's office number.
" Hello?" Laia's voice rang out
" Lalia. I..I...it's Kristina...she was..killed" I told her in between sobs
" Allison? What? How? I'm coming over right now. OK? Stay where you are." she answered frantically. I could barely answer her and whispered " OK."
I'm not even sure how long I was standing there in the living room, that I even didn't hear Lalia walk in. Feeling her arms wrapped around my waist securely and I broke down in tears. I could hear Lalia saying soothing Shhh's in my ear.
Time went by very fast, eventually Lalia got me to the kitchen and gave me a cup of cold icy water. She always knew what to do after I would cry my eyes out. After I gulped down the water and calmed myself down, Lalia gave me the explain now look and so it started.
I told her everything what happened to Kristina in between sobs that escaped my lips with out control. When I say everything I mean everything. It’s rare for Kristina to be outside in daylight. She much rather preferred her nocturnal schedule. This probably wasn’t an accident and was caused by something or rather someone.
We sat in peaceful silence that we often had. No worries in the world, nothing. Sometimes we would spend hours like that with out even noticing the time flying by. I thought about the times I spent with Kristina. The happy memories came flooding back to me in short moments. I was so enthralled in them that I didn’t notice Lalia calling my name.
“ Allison Rose Serafino.” Lalia called using my full name, “ There you are. I thought I’d lost you in your head.”
“ Sorry Lalia, I was thinking about Kris.” I answered smiling softly.
“ It’s fine, but you so realize that you need to plan the funeral and inform everyone about her death.”
“You’re right. I should probably do that.” I said getting up
Once I got a Notebook with a pen and crawled Funeral Idea’s at the top of the page Lalia got of the phone with our boss telling him that we won’t be in today. The only thing I knew what Kristina would have wanted was to be buried in our family cemetery with the rest of our family.
“ Lalia I think we should fulfill her wish to have a funeral like she wanted. Do you agree.” I asked Laila
“ Of course. Did she tell you or something?”
“ Yea, she told me once that she wanted to be buried on our family cemetery so that would be a place.” I told her
“ If that’s what she wanted.” Lalia said smiling sadly, “ I say we do that.”
