Phil is the popular captain of the basketball team and Dan is one of the emo kids, spending his days writing and listening to My Chemical Romance.
"Hey! Hey you there!" He turned around to see the dark-haired popular boy running towards him. Dan growled, but stopped walking after all. He didn't want to talk to the guy that didn't even bother to remember his name. Phil slipped until he stood still in front of the irritated boy. "Hi", he said, a little awkward. The other boy didn't seem happy to see him at all. "What do you want?" Dan gruntled. Phil blushed, a bit uncomfortable with the situation. He wasn't used to people who did this hostile. "You dropped this in the hall.. Dan." He held a little book in his hand, with a black leather cover, full of Dans scribbles. Dans face turned flashing red before he snapped the book from Phils hand. The schoolbell rang, putting an end to the endless stream of pupils going to their classes. "I have to go", said Dan, gripping his book thightly. It was filed with his thoughts, little poems and some stories he'd written. It was very personal, and he hoped that Phil hadn't openend it and read those passages about Dans feelings for him. Dan turned around, planning on getting away from there as soon as possible. "Wait." Phil took Dans wrist, but immediately realised he had made a grave mistake. Dans face looked like a thunderstorm when he turned around again to face Phil. "Let. Go. Of. My. Arm." Phil didn't want to let go.
He shook his head, his eyes had a stubborn look. "No. I want to talk to you." Dan squinted his eyes, his aurafilled with anger in the empty hall. "Make it fast. I'm already late for class." Phil sighed in relief and let go of Dan. He pulled his hair back, the jacket from the school basket team almost fell of his shoulder, but stayed there either way. Phil was the captain of the team, the school hero and the most popular boy in school. Everyone wanted to be his friend. Except for Dan. "Listen, I just wanted to say that the piece you wrote for the school newspaper... It was briljant. I liked it very much." Dan was confused. People actually still read the newspaper? He had written a short story for it, but it wasn't something special. Why would Phil of all people tell him this? "Anything else?" Dan was about to walk away. "Yes! I- i... Oh, hell." He took Dan by the shoulders and pulled him closer, until his lips touched Dans. Dan hadn't expected this, but he couldn't say he didn't like it. Not at all, really. He loved it.
He had fallen for Phil since he first saw him, but he never thought the popular boy would've felt the same way. So, he kissed Phil back.
It was the best day of his life.
