Jensen's car was in the driveway when I got home. That was good, that meant that he hadn't gone to Kami's first and he hadn't told her any lies.

/COME DOWN HERE NOW!/ I screamed at him through my mind.

"What do you want?" He asked as he descended the stairs.

"You didn't seriously think you could do say that and everything would be okay. What the hell was that at school? I haven't done anything to you lately."

"You are always with me and Kami. You never leave us alone. I never even get to kiss her anymore. I mean really kiss her. You call that nothing?" He was mad too, but it wasn't my fault. He was mad at the wrong person.

"I am only ever there because Kami begs me to be. If you would pay attention, you would see that I never want to be there anymore than you want me there. Do you think I like being a third wheel? When we go to parties, I never even stay the whole time! I wait until you and Kami go off with your own people and then leave and come back when Kami wants to leave. When we go out other places I don't stay and I make excuses to leave completely. You are mad at the wrong person. You need to be having this conversation with your girlfriend." My voice raised a few octaves. "And just because I am always with you and my best friend doesn't give you the right to say that. You are so lucky that noone really heard you say that I was "with" him. I do not want the reputation of a skank. If you don't want me there then either quit taking her to the damn parties or tell her that you don't want me there."

"I can't do that and you know it. She will just tell me that you are her best friend and that if I don't want you there then she won't be there, even though she doesn't even notice that you always leave."

"That still doesn't give you the right to say that about me!"

"Well I'm tired of it." He said.

That was it I lunged at him with such a speed that his shifter eyes couldn't even keep up.

My fangs had been extended since the moment I walked in the door. My brown contacts had dissolved long ago, and the true purple color was showing.

He hadn't had time to prepare for the attack, giving me the upper hand.

I bent my head towards his neck ready for my fangs to connect with the skin of his neck.

No more than a few inches away from his fighting body, I stopped.

He tried to take the opportunity to strike at me, but I was ready for it.

I stopped his attack and told him to stop trying to get at me.

A look of confusion spread across his face.

"Kate's home. I'm surprised you didnt hear her pull up or smell her."

He focused on the scents around him and then he understood.

"I was too focused on not getting my throat ripped out. We'll just have to finish this later." He turned and disappeared up the stairs.

Quickly, I replaced the contacts that had dissolved with a new pair, making it seem like everything was just fine and dandy.

A few moments later, Kate walked in with an arm load of groceries.

"Raine, go get the rest and help me put them away."

I was hardly ever rude to Kate. It was hard to be. Kate had always let me do whatever I wanted with only a few simple rules: I had to be at the house when Kate needed me, I had to have my phone on me at all times, and I couldn't fight with Jensen. I pretty much always followed the first two, but the third one was broken. A lot.
