Chapter Six
Waking up at Kami's house is always easier then waking up at mine. There is no waking up late with her, she is always on time. For everything. There is no fighting with Jensen over our shared bathroom, and he doesn't get the chance to insult and pester me right after I wake up. Instead of waking up in my normal grumpy, irritated manner, I woke up in a really good mood. I woke up before the alarm went off, took a shower, woke Kami up, and told her that while she was in the shower I would make us some breakfast.
Honestly, the look on her face told me that even she thought my good mood was strange.
"You're scaring me a little bit" Kami said while chuckling.
"Sorry, I guess I woke up on the right side of the bed this morning." I smiled and happily walked down the stairs, making my way towards the kitchen.
Once there, I walked over to her television and turned on her satellite. The music played throughout the house through the speakers built into her ceiling, both upstairs and down. Having two successful doctors as parents has paid of for my little Japanese friend.
I danced around the kitchen as I got everything I needed to make my fabulous, famous breakfast: egg in the hole. I know, it sounds weird, but I like it, and it's simple and quick to make.
Just as I placed the last cooked egg in the hole on a plate, Kami walked down the stairs and into the kitchen.
"Mmm, it smells good in here Raine." She glanced at the plates, "Ah, I see I get your special breakfast this morning. What is the special occasion and who do I have to thank for your good mood?"
I smiled and thought about her questions. "There is no special occasion and I guess you can thank yourself for my mood." I answered.
"Well, I don't know what I did, but I am glad I did it."
After finishing breakfast, we cleaned up the mess together and I went to get our school stuff from her room while she called Jensen to come and get us.
Honestly, I can't wait until my birthday so I can get my license and finally drive myself around instead of depending on Jensen for rides.
"Raine, hurry up! He's in the driveway already." Kami called from downstairs somewhere.
The rest of my day up until now, I went through the first half of my day in a strange haze. It was like I knew what I was doing, but it kind of seemed unreal. My first period was okay, Señora Cruz had us work with partners in Spanish, and I of course worked with Kami. Second period in art, we did the color wheel and I spent that time mindlessly working on it. Third period came and the first half of the class, I was zoned out as Mr. Lambert went over the super easy math homework. I have no idea where my good mood went. I went from being extremely happy and jumpy, to completely out of it. Now, walking into the lunch room, I don't even really remember getting out of my seat.
"RAINE!" Kami squeaked. She was jogging over to me, obviously excited about something. "Raine," she said again, breathlessly this time "you are never going to believe what I just heard!"
"What did you just hear?"
"Tommy got OSS for 4 days!" She started laughing.
"Are you serious? Who is your source? I do /not/ want to get excited if it isn't true."
She nodded, "I am positive! Jensen told me after second period, and then it was confirmed when I went into the office in the beginning of third by Tommy himself."
"Oh, thank god!" YESYESYESYESYES! Thank god! I mentally did the happy dance, not wanting to completely embarrass myself in front of the entire lunchroom. I won't have to deal with him for four days, plus the weekend! "So that means I won't have to deal with him for six whole days! Oh my god, Kami I will be in paradise!"
