I stare at Chandler for a moment. "Me? Bi..bitten? Are..are you sure?" He looks down. I grab his shoulders and force him to look at me. "Chandler, are you one hundred percent positive that I'm bitten?" The corners of his lips curl up into a smile as he starts laughing. I let go of him and take a step backwards. "No...I was just joking Bella...You were hit over the head...no big deal..." He struggles to catch his breath in between laughs. My expression changes from shock to anger rather quickly. I punch him roughly in the shoulder.
"Ow! What was that for?" I cross my arms as he rubs his shoulder. "That was for lying and making me panic." "Sorry." He looks up at me, his blue eyes looking sad. I sigh and shake my head. "It's fine I guess. Just don't do it again." He smiles brightly as he pulls me into a big hug. "Thanks. I promise I won't do it again." The sudden embrace makes my cheeks turn pink.
I look down at the ground as he lets go. "Man. You are something else Bella." I look over at him as he smiles at me. I smile back slightly. "Hey boy! What are doing flirting with my girl?" Merle walks towards us and shoves Chandler. He stumbles and falls back a bit. "Merle, come on man. Knock it off." Daryl grabs a hold of Merle's arm and pulls him away from Chandler.
"But I ain't done teaching that good for nothing punk a lesson!" Merle struggles to get out of his brother's grasp and make his way back over. Daryl just sighs and rolls his eyes. "Sorry Bella. Merle's head just ain't screwed on right." He watches as Merle pulls his arm free and proceeds to walk back over to the fire. "It's fine. Daryl. Don't worry about it." I smile weakly at him before he goes back as well.
I look back at Chandler. He shakes his head while brushing the dirt off of his hands. "Are you okay Chandler?" He freezes as he looks up at me. "Oh, um, sorry." He chuckles softly. "I kinda forgot that you were here for a moment." He smiles at me as my cheeks turn pink.
Suddenly, screams erupt from around the fire. I look over to see a young man come running out of the woods. "Help! Help! I'm being chased by a group of them monsters! You have to help me!"
Sure enough, right behind him shuffles a group of the dead, moaning and grunting as they pursue their meal. Everybody around the fire stands up and starts running around. Lori, Carol, Sophia, and Beth dart towards the RV while Rick, Shane, Merle, Hershel, Glenn, and Maggie pull out hatchets and knives. Daryl pulls the crossbow off of his shoulder and proceeds to shoot at the creatures.
I jump slightly as fingers wrap around my arm. "Come on Bella! You've got to get to the RV! You'll be safe there." Chandler pulls me towards the RV. I yank my arm out of his grasp. "But I can help! I want to help!" Ignoring the fight near the fire, I stand firmly and cross my arms. Chandler looks from me, to the fight, then back at me. "Bella, you can't." I huff angrily.
"And why not?" The noise from around the fire seems to move closer to us. Chandler looks down and sighs. "Look. I know you can help, but I need you in that RV. Just in case things take a turn for the worse. Lori, Carol, Beth, and Sophia need someone to protect them and the only person I trust to do that besides my dad right now, is you."
I look up at him. He locks his eyes with mine. "Please Bella. Just go to the RV." I sigh deeply. "Fine. I'll go." He smiles at me before running over to help the others. I run to the RV, throwing the door open and jumping inside. It clicks shut behind me as I move away from the door.
Looking around, I see all of the girls sitting at the table. Carol's arm is wrapped protectively around Sophia. The man who came running through the woods sits in the front in the drivers seat. His arms appear to be covered in blood.
"Do you know what's happening out there? Are they okay?" Lori questions me, her eyes watching with concern. I glance quickly out the side window. The fighting seems to have slowed down just a bit. "I'm not sure. I bet they're all fine." Lori smiles weakly at me before looking down at the table.
"What's that guy's problem over there? Is he crazy or something?" Beth points at the man in the front. I look over at him. He's moved from sitting in the seat to laying on the floor in a ball.
"...I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. It wasn't my fault. It wasn't my fault..." The man babbles on, repeating the same messages over and over. "I'm not sure." Beth shrugs her shoulders before looking down at the table as well.
Suddenly, a knocking at the door startles us. I look out the window. "Who's there?" "It's Rick. It's safe to come out now. The problem's all taken care of." Sophia pulls the door open slowly. Rick stands there, his hands and arms covered in gunk. Behind him stands Shane and Chandler. Everyone slowly comes out of the RV.
Once everyone's out, Chandler pulls me to the side and hugs me tightly. I stare at him for a moment before lightly hugging him back. I let go before him. He keeps his arms around me for a bit longer. "Chandler, you're still, kinda, hugging me..." He lets go abruptly, looking down to hide his red cheeks.
"Oh...sorry. I got carried away." He looks back up at me, a light shade of pink still lingering on his cheeks. "Okay everyone. Let's try to get some shuteye. We have a long day ahead of us."
