-Bella's POV-
I open my eyes slowly. The sun has barely started to rise as I wake up. I look around, no idea what has happened or where I am. As I glance about, I notice Chandler's arm draped over me.
'What the hell?...'
I gently move his arm away from me before sitting up. It appears to me that I spent the night sleeping in the backseat of a car. Glancing up at Chandler, I assume we were originally sleeping together on the seats but somehow I rolled off and ended up on the floor.
Chandler moves slightly as I sigh. His eyelids flutter open, his bright blue eyes appearing to be just as confused as me. A small smile forms on his face as he spots me.
"Good morning Chandler."
"Good morning..." He yawns as he rubs his eyes. He starts to stretch but stops as I begin to giggle. "What's so funny?" I look up at him and smile. "Your hair is a mess." I continue to giggle as he glances up at his hair. His mouth forms an "O" shape as he notices the stray strands of hair that stick out wildly.
"Hey, it's not that bad..." He brushes his hair down with his hands as my giggling dies down a bit. "...at least my hair doesn't look like yours." He chuckles as I glance up at my hair as well. My golden curls look like I stuck my finger in a plug socket.
"Haha. Very funny. Do you know where I can find a brush or something?" Chandler shrugs his shoulders nonchalantly. The soft snoring of someone in the front seat catches our attention.
"Who is it Chandler?" Being on the ground and unable to see, I quietly ask him to take a peek at who else was in the car with us. He sits up and looks into the mirror. "It's just my dad. No need to worry." He looks back down at me and smiles. I smile back at him.
Rick moves slightly, causing both of us to gasp quietly. We let out a sigh of relief when he finally stops. "Why don't we get out of here?" I nod my head in agreement. Carefully, Chandler unlocks the car door and pushes it open. He crawls out before taking my hand to help me get out as well.
I stretch as he shuts the door behind us. "You okay?" He looks over at me. "Just kinda sore." He places his hands in his pockets as he stands beside me. My eyes drift to the horizon as the sun begins to peek out from behind the hills.
"Beautiful." I glance over at him. Finally noticing me staring at him, his eyes shift from the sun to mine. "Oh... I was...um...talking about...the sunrise...it's...uh...really beautiful...NOT that you aren't beautiful as well! It's just...uh..."
His voice trails off before he shuts up as I smile at him.. We both look back at the sunrise and watch it in silence. Somehow, his hand finds its way to mine. He intertwines his fingers with my fingers before squeezing my hand playfully.
Eventually, the sun makes its way to the top of the sky, casting down its brilliant rays of light on the two of us. He lets go of my hand as he takes a step away from me. "Let's...um...go find you that brush Bella." I glance over at him.
"So where are we going to look first?" "Um..." He rubs the back of his head nervously as he takes a moment to think. Suddenly, his face lights up as he gets an idea. "...I bet you there's one in the RV! Come on!" He grabs my hand eagerly and proceeds to pull me towards the RV.
Just as he is about to open the door, I manage to pull him a few feet away. "Wait a minute Chandler! What if there are people sleeping in there?" He furrows his brow. "Whoops. I never thought about that. Thanks for stopping me."
We smile at each other before he cautiously pulls on the door. He frowns and steps back. "Damn. It's locked." He glances back at me, a look of despair in his eyes. "Think Chandler. Maybe your mom has one in her car." He sighs and face palms before he smiles widely at me.
"You're right! Why didn't I think of that?" He takes my hand and drags me off somewhere again. He pulls me past where we were when we woke up. "Hey! I think we just passed the car." "That's not the right one!"
I glance back, realizing that I failed to notice that the car we slept in was a cop car. Confused as to why we slept there, I take a moment to think.
'Wait a minute. Didn't Rick's friend Shane, or at least that's what I think he said his name was, mention that the two of them worked at a police station or something? That would certainly explain the car...'
Lost in my thoughts, I also fail to notice that Chandler has stopped and manage to run directly into him. I fall back and land on the ground as he turns around. "Are you okay Bella?" I clench my teeth as I look up at him. "...Never felt better..."
He smiles sympathetically as he offers me his hand. I grab his hand and he pulls me up. I look behind him as he helps me and see a normal looking car. "Thanks." He nods his head before directing his attention back to the car.
"There should be a brush or something in here. My mom always keeps an extra one in the glove box. It'll take me a second to type in the code." I nod my head before proceeding to brush the dirt off of my pants. Soon, he's inside the car, searching through the glove box.
"Aha! I've found it!" He passes me a hair brush before sitting in the passenger seat. He smiles as I crouch down beside him in order to use the mirror to see what I'm doing. My hair returns to normal in no time as the brush glides easily through my hair.
"Much better. Thanks." Satisfied with my work, I hand him back the brush. He puts it back in the glove box before getting out and locking the door. "Come on. Let's get you some breakfast." This time, he strides off without grabbing my hand. Shocked, it takes me a moment to go with him.
He leads me to the back of the police car. He does something near the muffler, making the trunk pop open. Inside, various cans, boxes, bags, and jars of food occupy every available space.
Chandler reaches in and pulls out two granola bars. He hands one to me and shoves the other one in his pocket before shutting the trunk. "Sorry it's not much. We're running low on supplies here." "It's fine." I place my granola bar in my pocket as well.
"Do you have a weapon?" I shake my head as he glances at me. "No. Of course you wouldn't." He walks around the side of the car and opens the door. I watch as he reaches under the back seats and pulls out a sheathed machete. He shuts the door before coming back over to me.
"Here." He kneels down and fastens it to one of the belt loops on my jeans. "I found this on one of my excursions. Nobody knows that I have it since all weapons have to be recorded. I hid it there, in case someone might need it."
"Thanks." I place a quick kiss lightly on his cheek. He blushes as he smiles at me. We stand there like that for a few seconds before he starts to look around.
"Are you ready to go?"
"Yeah. As ready as I'll ever be I guess."
"Then let's go before someone sees us."
