By Sage
A shadow of reality,
Is all my thoughts will ever be.
Distorted, feared, and unawake,
Watching every move I make.
Why do they do what they do?
Is what they show me true?
I seem to control them all,
But still can't change just where they fall.
It seems there is a sort of light
Casting them into the night,
And when the light encircles me,
The shadows become hard to see.
When unnoticed, never missed;
Almost as if they don't exist.
Like someone gave the light a shine
From which the shadows hide behind.
Impossible for them to show
Their own beautiful blackened glow.
How unfair a life, it seems,
But they don't give up on their dreams.
They follow me from place to place,
Throwing themselves into open space.
If I must ever pause and breathe,
They even stop and stay with me.
They never try to comprehend,
They just simply understand.
I like the shadows quite a lot;
Each and every single thought.
Such free beings, and so perfect,
I have no choice but to respect.
I'm noticing my strong becoming fear
That my shadows one day will disappear.
