Waking up in the room was still a little bit weird but Kady knew she was going to be able to get over it, she just needed to give herself some time. It was twelve till seven but she got up and started to get dressed anyways. The alarm didn't have to wake her up but she wanted to know which radio station would come on with which ever song.
When she got to her dresser, she knew she wasn't planing to do too much until later so she went with her zodiac black tee shirt and light blue skinny jeans. Adding her white high tops made the outfit just casual and comfortable. She had pockets so no need for a purse since she always believed that if you have the pockets for holding items, that people should actually utilize them.
She looked in the mirror and decided on her black cardigan pullover. Her curls looked well rested and tangled so she tried to fix them in a ponytail but it was much easier said than done. Looking around her body, she wasn't totally pleased with her clothes but she knew it was all in her head. It wasn't like she was in the mood to change anyways, she liked the Princess Merida hair since it suited her face quite well.
Her alarm finally went off and she shut it off instantly, not trying to shut the music off but to check her messages and call her mom.
"Hi sweetie! How's the trip? Have you met anyone yet? Did you take any photos? How's the writing?"
"Mom!" She screeching through the phone. She'd expected questions but not really being bombarded.
"Yes?"
" The trip is going good so far. No photos, I totally forgot to take them but I won't forget now. I have met a few people and they're very nice," keeping out the Thomas moment "and my writing is coming along. There's just a lot of ideas that I have to go through and revise and make certain everything is okay."
"Well that all sounds great, I'm proud."
"And how about my pups? Are they okay?"
"Yes, none dead so far..." she laughed on the other line, she missed seeing her smile already "and Patricia already brought over another one. The pup apparently has a name but she said you just call it Doctor."
Yes! She thought since this was the last pup she was getting before settling with her pups. She had ten pups in total. Yes, 9, and all were named by characters she loved. There was:
1. Loki
2. Tony
3. Steve
4. Dean
5. Sam (Sammy)
6. Cas
7. Sherrinford (the original name for Sherlock)
8. River
And now there was The Doctor. Honestly, she loved the pups and it wasn't because she was lonely but because some were just "too much" for their previous owner and she knew how it felt to be too much in life. She loved their company and just being around them. She knew most of them were really rough so she was always prepared to either have them in training or train them herself but she always had pictures with each of her pups.
"Anyways honey, I gotta go. Chris is bringing his girlfriend for a robot building and your dads just being. I'll talk to you later sweetie. ByeILoveYouLoveYouBye."
"ByeILoveYouLoveYouBye."
That was just something her brother had started saying because passing the phone was a problem and he always wanted to make sure to say I love you to someone so they knew he loved them. It's said pretty quickly but no one has questioned it yet.She made her way down and noticed Nic coming out of the room at the other end of the hall. He looked a bit tired but it was sort of an attractive groggy. His hair was stirred up a bit and he was in a tee shirt with baggy sweatpants that looked like they hung on his hips. It was kinda cute until he caught her staring.
"You always stare at a man is is tracksuit bottoms early in the morning or is it just me?"
She chuckled to herself "nah, just you since I've yet to meet anyone who calls sweatpants 'tracksuit bottoms'."
He laugh looking down at the pants "Well that's just because all the people you speak to apparently are just American."
He started moving a bit closer to her and she hadn't realized until she could practically smell him. He smelled like old English leather. That smell was enough to pull her from whatever thoughts she was having.
"Any breakfast ready?" She imperatively asked trying to get out of the awkward situation.
"Uh," he froze "yeah, yeah, there's some in the dining room and if you want, I have coffee ready."
"Cool, then I'm just gonna" she scooched over towards the hall opening down the stairs "get my coffee."
She made her way down to the same breakfast spot she was in as he gave her breakfast and coffee. He made his way back to the table sitting next to her this time while she ate. She hadn't touched her coffee but breakfast was still great.
"Any plans tonight?" He looked straight at her.
She almost choked on the potatoes. She looked at him to find the humor behind his words but she couldn't find anything.
"Yeah, yeah, I actually have plans so..."
"Oh, where to?"
"Just a restaurant I found that I really liked."
"Would you like some company?"
"Well," she thought quickly "I kind of have a date. Tonight. At the restaurant."
"Is that so? Does he know?"
"W-?! Yes, yes he does and I was just about to call to confirm."
"Right, I just can't believe it until I see, or rather, hear it."
"Fine!" She paused right after saying it that she realized what she had to do. Not only call the number that could be a complete lie but set up a date. This was too much like stories that she's read.
She took out her phone and dialed the number. It rang for what seemed like an eternity until someone picked up.
"Hello?"
A woman's voice. She hadn't had a whole lot of hope in the number but damn did she wish.
"Hi, this is" stupid "Kady, I'm calling for Thomas? Uh, Tom?"
Nic just watched as she tried to find her out. "Let me go get him."
A couple of seconds passed and Nic just smirked a bit, she hoped it wasn't a prank."Hello well I'm terribly sorry but he's currently unavailable at the moment. Prior arrangement if you will." Nic just sat back a bit, hearing in. Why was it even his problem whether or not she had a date?
"Ah, yes," She looked at Nic and smiled trying to be convincing "well Thomas are we still on tonight?"
"Of course, I will be waiting."
She hung up the phone and tried her best to look satisfied with the call. "See, he's excited."
"Well, hope you have a good time then, I'll see you later, okay? You can tell me all about your day."
He walked back to the kitchen, spoke to the lady behind the counter, and took his apron off as he made his way to the back room shutting the door. Was he really flirting with her? She was so used to being ignored in the states that meeting someone who actually liked a large plus size woman- who wasn't her mother - caught her off guard. She rid her mind from the thoughts and finished her breakfast.
After she finished, she decided to go visit a location or two in hopes to finally get her pictures she told her mother she would get.
She drove her way to The Imperial War Museum and had an absolute thrill going about. The way the art was depicting everyone during different times made her wish she'd learned more about history. There was so much to know so she took what time she could and made her way through each part of the museum with whatever grace she could, not looking like an American tourist but someone who just really liked Imperial artifacts and whatnot.
As she headed out of one of the corridors and into another, her phone rang. It wasn't a number she recognized.
"Hello?" She almost hung up until someone began to speak.
"Kady?"
"Yes? And who is this?"
"I thought the caller ID would be enough to tell you that." She looked at the phone and recalled the number. The woman.
"So is this Thomas."
"Ehehe, yes, I heard you had called earlier and I was unable to answer the phone."
"Well, I apologize for calling at the wrong time. I believe your girlfriend answered the phone earlier?"
"Girlfriend?" He paused and she almost questioned whether he was still on the phone.
"Hello?Thomas?"
"It was my sister Sarah who answered the phone. I was working on a voice reading and simply left my phone in my jacket pocket."
Stupid. Idiotic. That's what assuming gets her.
"Right, of course it was." She was more angry with herself than the situation. Why would she even be mad at the thought of him having anyone else when she literally met him yesterday. Just like her books all over again.
"So what did you want to speak about?"
"It was just trying to get out of a situation but it has been fully resolved."
"Oh, well that's good."
"Well, good for me, sort of. I see no way that could have any affect on you."
"It was my number you called, remember? Plus, I enjoy speaking to you. After your riveting speech on the newer generation, I just knew you'd different."
"How's that?"
"Do you really wish to know?"
"Yes." She was determined to find out.
"Good, would you care to meet me at the V & A Cafe to talk?"
"Sure I guess." She let out on an impulse.
"Perfect, afternoon it is."
She hung up the phone and just paused in her place, gripping her phone. What just happened? She couldn't wrap her brain around what had just transpired but all she knew was a time and a place.
How was this even happening to her in the first place? It was too surreal.
