Wanting for love

In less that 7 hours, Kady was going to get the man she now knew she deserved. It wasn't going to be easy, mind you, but she wasn't going to let him slip from her hands anymore. Playing the damsel in love wasn't a part she played well but she never played damsel in distress, that was a part she couldn't fathom.
When she woke up, it was just after 8 am and she was hyped. Sherrinford, her cat, was on her love-seat so she laid out everything she was going to need for the night ending with her nicely pressed handmade dress.
She went to the bathroom and started brushing her hair out but noticed how long it was. She finished brushing her hair and moved to her teeth but while she during that time, she texted her stylist.
Kady: Lorenzo
Lorenzo: Hey there mamacita ^_^
Kady: I need your help, it's an emergency.
Lorenzo: Really? How bad?( XAX)
Kady: Down to my mid back so I need
a trim like Amy Adams or Kiera Knightly.
Lorenzo: Hot damn, girl! That's a lot of hair,
you donating or something?
Kady: I will donate it but it's more than that,
I'll tell you when I get there. What time should I be there?
Lorenzo: I have an opening around 12:45?
Crap!
Kady: Alright, I'll take it. Thank, Mr. L.
Lorenzo: But of course ;)
Kady finished her daily routine in about an hour, trying to make sure she had everything she was going to need for the day. For clothes, she'd put on her Army green cover shirt with a black tank-top (definitely looked hot), her olive green matching thing high shorts and her dark brown heeled boots. She loved the look because the way she put it, she looked good but in charge. It was the look she was going to need for some of the people she'd be dealing with that day.
She wasn't going to tussle with all her curls when she was going to get her hair done anyways so she managed a bun with strands falling out already, what a stupid hair idea but it kept the hair out of her face and that was all that mattered.
Entering her kitchen, she felt a pang in her chest remembering the two of them dancing in the kitchen. So intimately, even lovingly on his part. Whether it was the same for her then, she knew now that she enjoyed it too. Taking her mind off those thoughts, she made pancakes and eggs for breakfast, not something she eats everyday but they're pretty good. When she finished her food, she cleaned her place and grabbed her purse.
She's normally fine without a purse but today seemed a day where she was to need her phone, keys, large wallet with her paperwork, a makeup bag her mom had gotten her a while back, and her emergency shoes. Her purse wasn't cluttered like a lot of other bags but it had essentials.
Finally leaving outside, she headed to her 1967 Chevy Impala that had an Onyx coating of paint as well as chrome silver ads and made her way to the first place on her list. Her old friends place.
"Welcome to Luxurious Ladies."
This store had a lot of jewelry and it was truly overwhelming for her but knowing the manager was certainly a plus because she tended to know what was new and what best suited Kady.
"Laura! Hey." She walked towards the office the woman sat in.
"Lee, It's good to see you. What's up?"
"I need to borrow some jewelry for the night."
"Anything specific? What's going down tonight, got a hot date?" Kady gleamed as she told her the plan.
"Holy shit, Lee. Well, I have a few things i think might fit the night but what's the dress?"
Kady showed her a photo of the dress in her car and Laura grinned at her "I have the perfect items."
After a few minutes, waiting in her office, she'd came back with a few small boxes labeled accordingly. She set them on the table and opened each one by one as they glistened with just the small amount of light let off from the ceiling. Each piece of jewelry was shaped into dazzling pieces and had their own personality to them. It was like looking at small boxes filled with dreams.
"Wow, Laura... These are-... I don't-... Wow." Laura chuckled a bit and grabbed one of her hands.
"These are the closest I could get with those colors. Plus, they give perfect dimension to your face." She held up a pair of earrings Kady pointed to and put them on. Since she had two sets of earring holes, she chose a smaller pair to go over the first and she loved them. Looking in the mirror, she moved her hair over to the sides, pinning them up with hair pins that match.
"Looks great, Lee." Laura reached for a pair of bracelets and matching rings to fit and see but when she looked again to the mirror, it was as though she just got lost in a twisted reality. One that involved her actually looking her very best for the first time. She turned away from the mirror and began taking the jewelry off.
"I'll just take these things off and if it's alright, these will be just fine." She set what she wore in a bag in front of Laura.
"Yeah, it's fine. You can bring them back between now the end of the week. It's not a huge problem but I do need them back, there's a huge price for this" she grabbed and shook the bag a bit "and I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want to have to pay for each piece.
She couldn't help but be curious "Price?"
"Yeah, watch..." She rung up each piece of the jewelry bag and when the final price came up, Kady nearly choked. She gawked at the price.
"T-That much?! For just that stuff?!"
"Told you, but we tend to sell to more wealthier customers..." Laura looked at Kady from under her eyelashes knowing that Kady was staring a hole in her head.
"Well, I'm gonna take this," she grabbed the bag and put it in the pocket in her bag "thanks again, I'll make sure to pay you back with a favor in the near future."
"Yeah like get me a man, woman!" Laura laughed loudly and Kady happily joined in. "If you still have the number for that sexy number you had here last time, turn him over." She winked towards Kady's way.
"He wasn't my number and sure, whatever, he's like a brother anyways. A single younger brother."
"Oooh, I like them young."
After their laughing fits, Kady hugged Laura, giving her goodbyes and was off to the car again. Around 11:13, she made her way to another place that she could find really good shoes to go with the dress.
Driving for a few minutes, she made parked right outside a large building in the middle of an even larger complex. The sign on the right side the building glistened as the sun came from the side.
Kouture Divine.
She walked up to the shop and when she walked in, she was greeted with hundreds of shoes, purses, and jewelry- though, she disliked the jewelry there. One of the workers walked up next to her, poking at her side smiling with what seemed as all his teeth.
"Alright Kady, you don't come in unless it's for a good reason. Who's birthday is it?" Kady turned, startled by the tall suited man leaning next to her.
"Gee, Simon, sometimes you need to just not touch my lady curves. All this fluff needs to not be disturbed."
"So what is it, birthday, wedding, or your mom?"
"Why can't it be for me?"
"Honey... You have less purses than I do and I'm the man of this place."
"Yeah, but you're more of a queen than I am." She punched his shoulder lightly not to hurt him since he seemed to be a bit more sensitive than her.
"So, what's up?"
"I need a clutch and shoes but only for tonight..." She explained everything to him, even showing him the picture of the dress and her jewelry in her purse. Simon just pouted and smiled her way.
"That is so cute! I can't wait to show you what I've got. I have the perfect items for you!" He grabbed her arm and rushed her to the back of the room. Leading her to the back of the room, he let go of her for a second only to gesture up to another level of the place that didn't have a soul up there. Crawling up the steps to a second level, there was a specific clutch that seemed to speak out from the rest.
"I got it!" Simon snatched the clutch from the back end of the rack and ran down faster than the time he'd gone to Black Friday at his favorite makeup store.
He came up to her and draped the gold chain over her shoulder and pushed the large oval mirror towards Kady. Then he rushed to the shoe section looking for matching shoes. He yelled from his place "What size are you?"
"10, I think..." She looked down at her shoes and questioned it herself, it'd been a while since she'd bought new shoes so it was hard to say. "Bring 11 if you want."
Simon rushed over to her with three pairs of shoes and had her try them on. The first looked okay but she hated stilettos and knowing how she was previously and adding in her weight, she didn't trust herself. The next pair were cute but not sexy, she wanted to use them as emergency shoes for the night but it was the last pair of shoes that really caught her. They matched everything and she knew the pair of shoes was going to tie everything together and make the dress pop.
Once she would get everything done and together, she was going to really see herself. When Simon looked back and forth from the shoes to her calves, he nodded in agreement with her. Her calves were amazing!
Putting the shoes back in their boxes and putting the flats/heels and matching clutch in a separate bag, she gave Simon a long hug.
"Thanks so much. I can't wait to put all this on."
"Sweetie, you're gonna be amazing." He patted her shoulder, sighing.
"What time is it?"
"12 o'clock." Kadys' eyes widened as she grabbed everything and ran out.
"Oh shit, I gotta go! I'll be late for my hair appointment, see you later Simon!" She looked back and Simon waved her goodbye so she did the only thing she thought fit and she waved back.
Tossing her stuff in the back, she bum rushed it to the salon and made it a minute after her time but it was perfect.
"Lorenzo, I made it."
"Alright, lets do this." She put her purse on the end of the counter and sat down in his chair.
Lorenzo draped the black hair cutting cape over her and put her hair up with three clips. Clipping the buttons from the back together holding the cape, her hair fell and Lorenzo just stared at her hair.
"Is there any way you want it from those cuts or can I style myself?" She pulled out her phone and showed him the photos she took and his eyes brightened with way too many ideas.
" Perfect! I know exactly what to do but it has to be a surprise."
"What do you mean?"
"How long do you have?"
"Under two hours since I need time to drive to the event."
"Alright, I got this." He shouted to one of the women over at the other side and she brought over a mask for Kady.
"What's this?" She asked.
"I told you it will be a surprise. Just sit back and relax." Lorenzo put the mask around her ears and covered her eyes, she also pulled out her headphones on and set her music on.
When she sat back, her music guided her on an adventure with all the different feelings she was having not knowing what was happening to her. Scissors grazed the side of her face by her ear, giving her chills from her head to her shoulders. The tie for her hair was in already and she could feel the scissors cut off the part of her hair. There was a sense of weightlessness from her hair being gone and not so long. Her head started to bob a bit with the music but it didn't seem like it interrupted anything so she continued.
Water was spraying her hair and it was a shock at first from what she was expecting so it didn't really matter but it felt nice. She liked the feeling of what could be interpreted as rain falling on her hair, it was kind of soothing. Her hair was drenched now and he started to make a few more cuts but what she didn't expect was for someone to come up and start touching her hands. A spring of fright came up but Lorenzo just held her shoulders and stopped. She knew what that meant so she touched his hands and kept her hands to her sides so whoever was working on her hands could do their job.
She'd never gotten over the pain from getting her cuticles done but for now, she was going to bear the pain. Beauty was pain, right? The music was getting a bit more hipster but she enjoyed it as she could feel Lorenzo cutting different parts of her hair while she jammed out to Empire of the Sun.
There was a feeling she got when someone did her hair but she tried not to move too much and stay still. She imagined Thomas running his hands through each tendril as she leaned her head against the pair of hands holding her still. Raking his fingers through, feeling the curls fall with volume across her face while he moves some to rub her hair.
Kady was moved over to the hair washing station but all she could envision was Thomas rubbing her head with shampoo with such a soft touch, making sure he could see the bubbles run down her back as he washed out the shampoo. He looked great in her mind. She felt her nails being held still and she just relaxed, dreaming up more ideas of Thomas and what she'd do being with him.
Unlike the sexual ideals that would come with imagining the person of your dreams, she thought the most intimate thing would be laying with him- skin to skin or otherwise-, as she read him her favorite books from cover to cover. Words spilling from her mouth as she reads from her heart, partly looking at the pages and looking towards Thomas, remembering words by heart. Having him wrap his arms around her and give her cheeks kisses.
After so long of wishing in her mind, one of her headphones was taken out of her ear.
"You good girlie? I'm gonna style your hair with the pins you have okay?
"Yeah, got it." She put the headphone back in and just dozed off for what seemed like hours.
Once she came to her senses, the blindfold was off and she slowly opened her eyes. She put on her glasses and couldn't believe the gorgeous girl in the mirror was her. She looked nothing like herself, her hair was pinned on one side while her curls just fell perfectly on her shoulder. There were even loose curls on her face giving her a natural look. The makeup and nails were not what she expected but who was she to say that to the expert.
"You like?" Lorenzo looked in the mirror with three other women smiling hoping for approval.
"I love it! How? When did you-"
"You fell a bit asleep so it was easy to do. You look great mamacita, now you have to get everything prepared for tonight. It's 2:04."
She got up and grabbed her purse smiling from one side of her face to another.
"I love your work and here," she handed $80 to Lorenzo but he refused "why not take it?"
"Lorenzo doesn't want money. Lorenzo wants friend happy and famous." He winked her way and she just laughed. She enjoyed the people she was around but now was the time for her to get ready and head to the one place she hoped would still be there for her. Thomas' arms that is.
