When Morgana saw who was leading the Dragonite's she seriously thought of surrendering. She gazed deep into the golden eyes of a boy she once loved. Morgan's army of the dead glared at the threat to their Mistress. She turned to face the army she had created.
“Leave the boy with golden eyes to me, disobey this order and you will suffer the consequences” she said
A howling in the distance stopped everything. Everyone searched figuring Sir had called in the factions.
“We're here for you son” said Arthur
Morgana snapped back to the present before Marshall.
*
Marshall called back to Arthur.
“When it comes to it get Sawyer, Miracle, Regina, Penelope and Sir to the Stone” Marshall instructed
“Alright” Arthur replied
A scream brought Marshall back he looked around an undead was charging towards them. Marshall slashed up and Excalibur appeared. The undead split in half and returned to it's decomposing state.
“Charge!” Marshall yelled
He threw his hands out barracking Sawyer, Miracle and Regina.
“Watch” he mouthed
The ground began to explode at random. He watched as Morgana's army began to fall. When the numbers stood pretty even he shouted:
“Cease” the bombing stopped immediately “Why not fight fear” he said
“Kill them, Kill them all!” Morgana yelled
Marshall rushed forward slicing half a dozen undead as he did. Morgana turned and ran for her plan to work she had to isolate him. With every cut Sawyer, Regina and Miracle could feel something was coming, something bad.
*
As Morgana crested the hill that overlooked the cemetery she turned on the pity.
“Marshall...please...take...pity...on me-It was Merlin's idea- yes Merlin's” she sobbed
Marshall flexed his wings, his eyes glowed just like when he had purged the sword.
“You lie” his voice came in layers like three people were talking in unison in a cave.
“No, this is all Sly's doing- he's manipulating you- making you think I'm the bad one” she reasoned
Marshall didn't respond, he raised Excalibur over his head, as he did Morgana prepared for the final step. It happened very quick. As Marshall dropped the sword Morgana vanished she reappeared behind Marshall. She took Excalibur and thrust it into Marshall until the whole blade was sticking out the front.
“He let out a Banshee scream killing the undead. Sawyer, Miracle Regina and Penelope stopped.
“Sawyer!” yelled Miracle “Get us up there- NOW!” she ordered
“I can't do that yet!” he yelled back
“Try!”
“Okay!”
Sawyer thought:
“I want to be where Marshall is”
He felt his feet leave the ground. When he opened them again they were on a cliff over looking the battle. All there was on the cliff was Marshall's limp and lifeless form written in the dirt over his head was:
He kept his word
He'd die for you.
I've the sword so
boo on you.
“No!” screamed Miracle grabbing up the corpse.
Blood poured from Marshall's mouth. Sawyer touched Marshall's face and in horror as Marshall died.
“Wait a minute- if he was run through where's the wound?” said Sawyer
“Children come!” commanded Sir
Five wolves stepped up to each person, Sir picked up Marshall his blood pool receding.
“Take your time” He whispered placing Marshall on the wolfs back
The wolves took off, they pointed back to the village.
“I can't believe it's over!” yelled Regina over the wind
“Yeah, but why sacrifice yourself when the final thing you had to do was defeat the threat” said Sawyer
Everyone fell silent as the wolves dashed through the village. Penelope glanced at Marshall, she grinned as the glow of gold began to grow in his eyes. His body sat up and he blinked, he smiled and his wings appeared the wind caught them and he cart wheeled off the wolf and took off.
“God I love you” she thought
“When this is over I want to call you my wife” he said
She watched him fall back and then his shadow disappeared as the wolves ran threw the forest.
