The library was huge with rows and rows of books. A layer of dust covered everything, but the maids would fix that. I walked a little ways in. In the center of the room was a sitting area. On the table I saw two letters. I practically ran over to the table. One letter had the name Edward on it. I picked it up and turned around.

My father still stood in the doorway. He had a look of horror on his face. My sister's stood behind him looks of awe covered their faces. "You can come in."

My voice snapped them out of their trance and they all started to come in, but my father's voice made them all pause. "You will not enter that room, and your sister is going to come out and lock it up like it should be."

"No first read this." I walked over to him and handed the letter to him. I didn't wait to see if he opened it, but instead turned around and picked the other letter up off the table. Neatly scrawled on the envelope was my name written in my mother's hand writing. I flipped it over and opened it. I pulled out a thick letter. I unfolded it and began reading it. It read:

   My dearest Sarah,

I'm sorry to have left you. You are sixteen now, you are a lady. You''ve been the lady of the house for a while, but a lady is able to be married. Your father will make arrangements. My advice though my dear daughter is: if you fall in love with someone else before you are to be married, marry the one you love.
I'm sorry I won't be there for your wedding or your sisters'. if you fall in love I would help you fight your father, because I won't be there for you, you must fight him on the subject. If you run out of options show him this letter, he could then see that I would want you to marry the love of your life.
Sarah I must ask one more thing of you. I have placed more letters for your sisters in a basket on the table in the back. On their sixteenth birthdays give them the letters, but never before. There are two other letters in the basket. One is for your husband, I hope he is a man of honor with or with out a title, you are not to read this letter only him on your wedding night. The other is for you on your wedding.                                                                                                                                                                                                        You must also have a ball on the following night of your birthday. You will still be in mourning, but I have written to your father and have asked that he allows it.
Sarah you and your sisters are ladies. You are all princesses. Always remember this. Also the library is to stay open.

                                                                                                          Sincerely,

                                                                                                Queen Sarah Victoria Danielsen

I folded the letter back up and slowly turned around. Everyone was staring at me even my father. I sighed. "I guess we are having a ball tomorrow."

My sisters squealed in excitement, will my father frowned. "It was your mother's wish so it shall be, along with that of keeping the library open. You are all allowed in, as long as you behave." With that he spun on his heels and walked out of the room.

I watched my father go, while my sister's ran up to me asking about the letter. "I am not allowed to say. Now we need to spread the word and get dresses made the seamstress, I have to talk to the cook about the food and I may even need to run to town. You all must go I will get every thing ready, you all must stay together as much as possible so that I may find you easier if needed."

They all complained but I managed to get them to leave. Before leaving the library myself I wandered to the back table to collect the other letters my mother said she had placed there. On my way I took in the books and the paintings that hung on the wall. When I came to one painting of my mother, I paused in my step. I sighed once again. "Mother, why did you have to leave us. I cant make sense of your letter. Why must I go against father if I fall in love? Wont I love the man he has me marry?" I continued walking and as she said in her letter, a woven basket filled with letters was placed on a table.

I placed the basket on my wrist and hurried out of the library. "It's time to plan my first ball."
