(Sarah's POV)
The rest of the balls were all the same as the first. The only difference was that Henry would ask the musicians to play a waltz as the last dance. Now tonight would be the last night. Tonight signifies the end of mourning, and tonight is the wedding.
I woke up to sunlight flittering through the window. I snuggled closer to Henry. "Today is the day," I whispered.
I felt his breath on my neck. "Yes it is."
I rolled to face him. "Are you ready for this?"
He smiled and kissed me. "I have been ready for this since the day I met you."
I smiled and gave him a small kiss back. "Are you hungry? We should head down to breakfast."
"They won't miss us."
"They might." Before he could respond I got out of bed and walked over to my wardrobe and pulled a dress out. I started to change and had Henry help me with the string in the back and then together we left to go to the dinning hall.
Just like everyday since the morning following the first night of the ball, the room was crowded with our guests.
Henry and I found seats beside Alice and we started to eat as we listened to everyone around us. One villager was telling a lord about a previous hunt, and Lady Weller was talking to Gertrude about sewing. When my father caught site of us, he gathered everyone's attention.
He stood up. "Today will be a special day for my daughter Princess Sarah Victoria Danielsen II and her Prince Henry. Today is also the last day of mourning. It is the anniversary of my wife Queen Sarah Victoria Danielsen's passing."
I smiled at my father as he sat back down. Everyone began talking again and once we were finished Henry and I excused ourselves. We walked to the stairs together and then departed. He had to finish getting ready and I had to finish getting fitted for my wedding gown.
I walked to my chambers where seamstresses were already waiting. I stood in the middle of the room while they got to work. Above the waist the dress was plain with little glass beads sewn on to it. The sleeves were the same material as those on my dress that would be worn before the wedding. The skirt of the dress was wrinkled with the glass beads sewn so that when they caught the light they would twinkle.
The shoes that I was to wear with the dress were delicate slippers. They were white with the same beads that were on the dress, in an interact swirling pattern. The dress was stunning. It held every bit of elegance as Lady Weller's plus some.
I changed out of the dress and the seamstresses told me the dress would stay in my chambers. I heard a clock from down the hall chime telling me it was past midday. I called for Ann, April and Elizabeth.
When they arrived I had them draw me bath water with lavender oil. I took longer than normal so that I could enjoy the scent and warmth. Once I was finished I brushed my hair and my ladies helped me into my dress. I had Ann braid a few small sections of hair and then braid the last bit together. She then brought all the braids back into a bun.
I stood up once I was finished and turned to face my ladies. They all gasped. "Sarah! You look beautiful," Elizabeth said.
"Yes. You must look in the mirror," Ann added.
I shook my head. "No."
"You must," April said.
Before I could reply there was a knock on the door. Elizabeth walked over to open it and then called back, "it is the Queen of France."
