Carter heaved himself out of the lake, turning to offer me a hand as he pulled on my arm to get me out too. We jogged back to the car, I fished out a towel from my gym bag both of us taking turns to get the excess water off before we changed back into our uniform. I ended up throwing on a pair of shorts from my gym bag and the tank I wore under my blazer. I ditched everything else in my bag and waited in the car for Carter who was looking through his stuff in the trunk. My phone buzzed and I looked down to see Olivia's number.

Where are you?

I looked to the top of my phone,  shrieking when I saw the time. I had been with Carter for four hours, completely forgetting about Olivia! I was going to tell her the truth and maybe she'd understand. I sucked at the entire friendship thing, I only had Jayden who understand my mood swings and plan switch ups.

I'm sorry! I'm with Carter! We went swimming!

What!

I'm with Carter right now. I don't think I can make it, please can we reschedule?

w.e.

Thanks!

I felt a little bit guilty for not going with Olivia for the dresses. She said she had to go today and that when I went I should send pictures of mine. I guess that'd work. Carter had returned from the trunk, his keys jingled as he started the car. He blasted the heat making me hum with the comfort it brought me.

"Each time you get in my car, you make a noise." he noted, pulling off the grass onto a gravel path that led onto a deserted road. We headed to my house, stopping along the curb as he parked. I tucked a lock of hair behind my ear, looking out the window at my house.

"Your clothes are soaked." I gave a half-smile. "I can wash them for you if you can come in." I looked back to him and he frowned.

He said he didn't want to commit, stop pushing it!

I bit my lip and nodded grabbing my gym bag as well as my book bag to hop out the car, shutting the car door as I wandered up to the steps. I heard him honk his horn, turning I saw him flash a bright smile and wave, driving off down the road. I walked inside deciding it was best to relieve myself of the grime that was probably in that lake. I didn't go anywhere but my bathroom, showering for what felt like an hour. Drying off I walked into the my room, jumping twenty feet in the air when I heard a soft knock on my window. Jayden.

I invited him in, letting him face a corner while I changed into my clothes which were baggy sweat pants and a hollister v-neck. My white socks were fluffy with grips at the bottom so I wouldn't slide. Jayden turned to me as if sensing my completion of changing. He dove onto my bed, grabbing my phone to go through Vine and his Facebook.  I laughed everytime he showed me a video.

"Do you have a date to that dance?" he asked when it was silent. I was on my computer and he was on my phone. It wasn't awkward but my face flashed red when he asked me.

"yeah"

"That's good, biker boy finally stood up for what he believed in." he falsely cheered. I quirked an eyebrow walking over to lay next to him on the bed.

"I repeat,  biker boy has a girlfriend." I murmured. The weakness took over my body, today had been a long day and I was just happy I could finish it off with Jayden  beside me.

"yeah, yeah, yeah, that's what all the girls say when the don't want to admit." he pouted, resting my phone to charge on the nightstand.

"Jayden?"

"Yeah, Liz"

"shut up." I said softly, falling asleep.

I woke up with Jayden beside me, fast asleep. He looked calm, snoring quietly on the pillow, his mouth was slightly ajar making me smile but I shrugged it off. I stood quietly walking over to my bedroom door, walking downstairs to the kitchen. I began to heat up some food left over from the day before when I heard a knock at my front door.

How convenient...

I jogged to my door after I placed the beans and rice in the microwave. Standing on the tips of my toes to look out the peephole. She was the last person I expected to be at my door during the night but I couldn't help but open the door to the brunette staring back at me.

"Can we go for a walk?" she asked sadly, pulling my hand outside. She tugged me down the street not waiting for my reply, the pavement was cold under the balls of my feet but she led me quietly until we came to a little park lit under a lone streetlight.

"Look..." I said searching for a name, but she never did tell me hers.

"Illiana, but don't tel-"

"Okay! I got it, you want our meetings to be a secret."

"You need to stay away from Julie."

"I try my best." I muttered, moving my hand out of her grip. She looked over to me as tears slowly formed in her eyes.

"She's so horrible!" she sobbed, making me uncomfortable. "She gets Carter...to do...these things! Like he's her little slave or puppet. She got him to-" she cut off, running a hand through her hair and gasping loudly. I panicked, stretching out to reach for her before she slapped me away. "Don't touch me!" she growled, making me furrow my eyebrows angrily. I began to walk back in the direction we came from, I was going home. I felt a sharp tug on my arm as she latched onto me desperately making me shriek.

"Wait!" she cried out, making me swing my hand to push her off. "I'm scared! He might do something to hurt you too!"

"Like what?" I shouted frustratedly.

Her huge eyes bulged further and she bit her lip, drawing blood. She hesitated, but when she spoke quietly, I let out a gasp.

========================

Hey Readers, hope you guys liked this chapter. I know the first couple were ridiculously long so I'm trying to keep these to a minimum of 1000 words while getting my point across.

So it seems like Illiana knows Carter & Julie, plus it seems like she let up a secret to Lizzy about them!

Why would Julie control Carter?

What's the secret?

Is Carter interested in Lizzy?

Does Jayden like Lizzy? Vice Versa?

That moment at the lake had me swooning, should Lizzy take Illiana's advice and stay away from Julie which probably means giving up Carter?
